Double S Smokehouse - Barbecue restaurant in Warwick - 49 Oakland Ave, USA

Stopped in after Apple picking just up the road. We have been here before, and weren't overly impressed, but it wasn't bad. Today when we got there it was just after opening and there were only 2 or 3 other tables. The food was fantastic, plentiful, and service was great. I don't know if we just hit it at a better time, or something changed, but I highly recommend it!

Came here with my family and had a great experience. Service was wonderful and food was good. The early bird special is a good deal if you can make it and order by 6pm.

Cute little bbq house - went for lunch and enjoyed service and vibes. The pulled pork Reuben sandwich was pretty good and the pulled pork egg rolls were interesting as well. In terms of ribs and brisket, we felt like they were on the dryer side. Notably they have 4 different types of sauces you could dip your meat in which was interesting for sure. We got a variety of sides: - corn bread felt mushy - cream corn (forget the exact name) tasted very creamy, it was milkshake like - coleslaw was ok - beans were interesting (probably the best side) - mac and cheese and onion rings were very average.

Everything was great EXCEPT for the taste and quality of the brisket entree (and cornbread on the side). Atmosphere was very nice & our waitress was very kind. We went there to get briskets and briskets tasted very dry and tough to chew. It was shockingly bad considering that this is a bbq house with so many good reviews. We went to many different bbq places (bc we like them) and by far, this was the worst tasting brisket out of all. I could’t bear eating it because it wasn’t juicy or flavorful at all. Halfway eating, I had to make a complain to our waitress and she kindly informed the kitchen staff & got us new briskets that were better. Cornbread on the side didn’t taste good (not much butter?).

I was visiting this town with a friend, and we decided to stop here for dinner before we went to the haunted Correctional Facility. All I can say is WOW! Everything we tried was incredible! I love how they serve soft drinks in a large mason jar. The pulled pork nachos were fabulous, I do wish the chips were more crunchy. The ribs were phenomenal, along with perfectly fried French fries and baked mac and cheese. The corn bread was perfect as well.

Amazing selection of meats. Giant burgers, great sides. Beer flights top notch. Excellent wings 🤤. Ashley our hostess was very attentive. I will always stop in when in area 😁

Went 1/13 to celebrate a birthday with 3 friends. Requested a booth, was told it was given to a different party. We had called 2 hours in advance of our 6:30 reservation to move the reservation to 7:00. An honest mistake, but no apology was offered. When we were seated(at a sticky table), the server informed us that there was a power outage earlier in the evening and service would suffer. She was pleasant and attentive but was trying to play catch-up with her other tables which she handled masterfully. We ordered a sampler, a half of ribs, a brisket plate and a sandwich. All the meats were dry and cold. The fries were at least warm. Needless to say, my experience was horribly disappointing as this was one of my favorite barbecue restaurants in the area. Please Double S, try harder.

We googled this place and it had solid reviews. However the food did not match the reviews. So place is nice and big and has an outside section with some beautiful views. We ordered a sampler platter with smoked ribs and pulled pork. Kids ordered the burgers. So first of all I'm an excellent bbq grill person and take great pride in my ribs. I was expecting a vert solid bbq experience... The food arrives and at first glance the ribs looked Dry and the pulled pork looked tender and juicy. So we tasted the ribs and they were dry and very smoky, but not a good smoky. It was a cold smoke with a bitter after taste. We could not get past 2 ribs. The pulled pork was better but not worth a mention. The kids only ate half of their burgers. We left hungry and annoyed. The place has great potential and with some guidance could be an outstanding spot. I don't usually miss on my selection of places to take my family (of 5) out for food. However this place has missed its mark. Total cost $298.00 with 18% tip.
