I ordered Sancocho through doordash at 1 am just coming back from work. It was the only place open that served this kind of food at this hour. The delivery was fast and I had no issues with the door dash driver or anything. My issue is when I received the food. I opened the bag, took out the sides (rice and salad) and when I pulled out the sancocho, there was a date on the lid 12/09/2023. Now, today is 12/17/2023. Can you imagine my shock when I saw the date. I wondered if that was the expiration date or that was when it was made, but either way, sancocho doesn’t last past 4 days and if frozen 3-4 months. But the sancocho was really hot, so they either microwaved it to the extreme or did something. To me, if it was regular soup like noodle soup that didn’t have pork and beef, I wouldn’t have been that concerned and ate some, but the fact that it had pork freaked me out. Now, I already complained to doordash and they returned my money, but I’m extremely worried about other clients that ate sancocho today. Did they get expired food too or was I just a 1 in a million. I attempted to call the restaurant 2x but it was sent to voice mail, and even thought it was now 2 am they don’t close until 3, so they should have staff there still. But please, for the restaurant staff, double check your food before you serve it. This is not only disgusting to serve but extremely dangerous. Someone can become extremely ill and end up in the hospital. Please check your food.
Went last night. Is a small place, but cute. We were a large group and they were able to accommodate us. At first the service was a little slow, because the night shift was coming in and they were changing. -Food: it was good nothing crazy. The portions were perfect enough for one person -appetizers: I didn't like the empanadas...it had more potatoes than anything . The chicharon was delicious -drinks:the weren't strong. And the prices were $12 and up -cleanness: the bathrooms were always clean while we were there -ATMOSPHERE WAS THE CHERRY ON TOP.
Amazing bandeja paisa chicharrón! Best chicharrón we’ve had even compared to our dining in Columbia! Was to a perfect crisp without the gooey fat texture. The beans are on point, ordered a side to go and everyone was fighting for it the next day! The skirt steak was well seasoned, perfectly cook to well done BUT tiny as if for the kids menu! The combo appetizer was great, our daughter ate two of the big empanadas and called dibs on the 3rd one to take home . Drinks can be VERY pricey especially if you order up on the tequila like Don Julio with margaritas or the recommended passion drink. Definitely look at pricing if on a budget or don’t want to pay $18 for a drink. Small Sangria pitcher is worth it as it wasn’t watered down with ice but they don’t do single servings. Since gratuity is included be prepared to flag staff when you want something. Make a reservation for weekend night time as we were told our table was reserved more than 2 hours before the time of the RSVP and given a kind reminder with a paper on the table while dining. They even customized an order for our daughter of a fried egg and fries which I’ve never experienced at a restaurant and was cool.
Should have more stars, but they make it difficult. I have been here several times, driving from far. They always take me to the back/side room unless I spend a min of $100/150, and I did a couple of times but can’t all the time. Waitresses are sometimes nice sometimes rude. It’s a waste of money to sit where u can not enjoy such good atmosphere and dance etc. I liked tostones with meat, drinks are ok. Overpriced for the area and place. Mandatory 18-20% tip already included in the bill. They don’t give you water, instead a bottle of water for $3 plus tax plus tip. Amazing how they charge same or more than other amazing places in better areas and venues.
It's always a great time at Donde Mi ama, a trendy Colombian food eatery. The staff, the entire staff, security included iz always friendly and welcoming and beautiful, men included. The food is DELICIOUS! Everytime. Calamari is a great starter although it can be a little crunchier, the season that they use is similar to a cajun spice. When the food is presented it is wrapped in plastic to cover from the servers carrying from kitchen to table. I also had the Sancocho with beef and chicken. It came with a side of white rice and mixed salad all for $10. The only hiccup we had was with a burger we ordered. The description didn't mention ham slice and we had to have the burger remade because of an allergy. They remade it without a problem and apologized. We packed our burger to go and were given lids for our sauces. The gratuity is automatically added still double check but we always leave a little extra for the great service.
The food and the service has gone downhill since two years ago that we went there. The food came out before she got the drinks to the table! The frozen margarita was not frozen. Apparently, they didn't know what a frozen margarita is. And tasted horrible. My sister didn't drink it. Steak was plain and tough. The salad I asked to be meat free, (she came back to asked me twice) still came out with ham in it. We will not be coming back. I rather go to Chingon for better food and drinks.
I wish there was an option to give negative stars but it isn’t. This is by far the worst food I have ever tried in my life. They gave us my wife and I raw pork with raw fat all over it. Cooks didn’t even bother to clean the ribs as they were full of pork fat. I can’t eat pork now because the bad flavor those ribs had is still on my head.
I love this place ! Such a traditional place to eat Colombian food and of course …. GUARO!!! There’s a new Aguardiente called CUMBE AGUARDIENTE, and I enjoyed the cocktail they have on the menu called “MARACUMBE” . This is a must try! Amigos vayan a probar el coctel “MARACUMBE” - solamente en Donde mi Ama ! Muy buen lugar

Excellent service, excellent food, Julianna our waitresses was very pleasant, attentive and friendly. The live music adds a good ambience but it was a bit too loud. Overall my family and I enjoy coming here.
Food was amazing and plentiful. There was two of us and had enough food for four. Our server was amazing. Came here on a chance and will be back next time we are in Newark.
