Wow! I no longer have to trek down into South Philly for authentic Mexican food!
The flavors were authentic. Generous portions. Really loved the beef tongue tacos. The consomme on my friend's plate was delicious - i think i stole half of it during our meal, lol. Service was fast and friendly. Nice decor and atmosphere. I'm so happy this restaurant opened in our neighborhood. I wish I had come by sooner, but I have been driving past it for weeks now with much skepticism due to the many mediocre "Mexican" restaurants in University City. I'm impressed! I'll be back again.
Found the gem near my air bnb. Food was good and staff was friendly. I think the price was fair, however I’m from Chicago and used to sides like rice and beans being included. Also a little chilly inside. Would nonetheless come back again!

Wow very impressed in every aspect !
First off the food exceeded my expectations. The Verde and roja salsa were both delicious with their fresh made tortilla chips.
I ordered a steak burrito- it came out with a beautiful presentation and a mound of guac. The proportions of ingredients inside were perfect and the meat was cooked with care (sometimes can be chewy at other locations).
The service was quick and hospitalable making me feel like a welcome guest.
The beautiful mural on the wall and artistic light sources really add to the ambiance.

This place is PHENOMENAL. Flavor and quantity are right on point. The menu options were just like home and even better. We got the Don Barriga torta and the birria quesadilla. Soooo gooood. The jamica is also BANGIN, not watered down like everywhere else around. ☺️
Loved my visit to Don Barriga! The food was exactly what we were looking for, and delicious! Their service was fantastic too. Really kind staff, It was easy to get a table and the food came out fast. Also, you get a lot of food with whatever you order. Very generous portions. Note that the restaurant is byob, there is a store down the block that sells beer. I really enjoyed sitting in their outdoor seating area. Perfect for a warm night. Highly recommend!

The horchata is home made and so delicious. My son had an elote (corn) he enjoyed it! Messy faced said it all. We had the birria tacos- lots of flavor and the meat soo good!
