This is a hidden hood gem Im Mexican but if you love you some soul foods this was really good, couldn't stop eating till I got full and took the pictures to share my beautiful experience. The area might be in the hood but it's definitely worth it. Gotta love the ghetto. East Oakland is my town

Great food in the fried chicken wings and fried catfish 2 way large. 2 way means 2 meats and large means 5 pieces of meat per serving versus regular means 3 pieces of meat per. They were delicious! The side like baked beans, were a miss. Tasted like chili, and yams were just OK, don't look in the back expecting to see your grandma on the side dishes. The red velvet was decent. The chicken and fish are the calling card for this place. Note the place is located in what some people view as a sketchy area. However, you should be fine but use your discretion. I will come again.

Great food. I ordered the chicken tenders combo with fries and my friend and I shared a peach cobbler. All of which was very good. It tasted homemade especially the peach cobbler. The only suggestion I would make for improvement is if the peach cobbler was also offered warm and or a la mode. As it is currently served around room temperature. The chicken was good, yet it was a little bit dry and a little spicier than I prefer yet it was still very tasty and I would eat it there again. My recommendation would be for them to offer a selection of meat flavors. such as spicy, regular, BBQ, and sweet BBQ perhaps? I also wish they offered more dipping sauce selections such as honey mustard. All in all great food .

As a southerner staying in the bay, I have searched for soul food all over, not just Oakland, and great soul food is hard to find, yet alone well priced on top of it. If you want a spot just for the food this is it. Its not a fancy restaurant, its just a joint. But the food is bussin, its a decent variety & well priced.

Best soul food in Oakland. The greens are the best I've ever had. Sausage was good, chicken was great, pot salad was good, red velvet cake was moist. Just go early, they close up early because of the neighborhood but don't be afraid to patronize this placem

Delicious I’m from Florida family n I passing tru cali and saw this place reviews seemed good so I decided to give it a try no regrets Mr Dixon owes me nothing from good staff to very tasty food I got the 5 wing combo,lrg basa w/potato salad,lrg catfish w/potato salad,side of Mac and greens 2 pc leg an thigh w/fries fried prawns red velvet cake prices are really good too

I started coming here years ago, and when they opened back up I started again. I have only gotten the seafood, I always ask them to fry hard and it comes out perfect every time. The portions are large and to me this is the best seafood joint so far. Treat yourself.
