These are 5-star hotel prices for 4-star quality. The rooms are much like you’d find in any standard Marriott or similar chain. I expected a lot more from the extraordinary price point. We had to run the shower every day for 15+ minutes to get the water warm. There was a stain on the sofa. For $700 a night, I shouldn’t be reporting that. The best part of the hotel is the friendly service and of course the proximity to the park. The location is what you’re paying for. If you’re willing to pay Four Seasons prices for a generic room just for the convenience, it’s worth it. I would *probably* stay again just knowing my expectations should be lower.

My husband and I stayed at this resort for our 15th anniversary this past weekend for the very first time. We booked a regular room over looking downtown Disney. The room was nice and very clean! On our first night we were startled awake around 2:30am to some emergency work/construction. We weren’t sure what it was, but it was very very loud for a few hours. We contacted the desk and they didn’t know what was happening but said they would have a manager contact us. The next day we were contacted by the manager Joshua. He was very kind and let us change our room so we could rest and have quiet. He went out of his way to get us a suite that was absolutely amazing and he gifted us complimentary tickets to the sold out sweethearts night that was happening that night. Very top notch service and we are very thankful for the kindness and generosity shown to us!!! Thank you Joshua- I hope you see this! You made our anniversary so memorable and special. We appreciate you and will always remember this trip!

Great location, super convenient entry into California Adventure. Was disappointed on two aspects of our stay. We were initially in room 5021, and found out why the room was ready 4 hours early. This room is located directly below the "Veranda" which is open from 6am to 10pm to top tier paying guests (we didn't know about this option). They begin moving furniture in the morning at 6am and at 10 pm to set-up/take-down their patio. This was not what we were expecting, it was really loud in our room and hard to sleep. They moved us to another room and claimed it was an upgrade because it had a partial view of the park (very small), Mostly we could see the monorail. Secondly, the waterslide in the pool area was closed for renovation. The only reason we stayed at this hotel was because my daughter saw the pool on our last trip (we stayed at Paradise pier) and wanted to use the pool there. The slide was closed without warning including the pool near it. This was really disappointing to my daughter. We had a great time at both parks, so that made up for it, but generally would have expected more from a hotel at this price point.

Overall an amazing hotel with easy access to parks and the downtown Disney area. Rooms are very spacious but are well kept and clean. Staff was always smiling and ready to help if needed. This hotel is on the expensive side along with the restaurants on site. Did have one issue with the self service laundry not working and having the hotel clean some clothes can be just as expensive as the clothes themselves. Would come here again if possible in the future for the convenience of location.

Really loved this place!!! Rustic and cozy! This resort is so beautiful. The cast members are helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and good sized. Loved the piano and since it was in October, we got to listen to a mariachi band for Coco. Loved the convivence of being in the Disney bubble and not having to go too far to get into the parks. Loved the restaurants. The grab and go was easy. We were lucky to stay here due to my daughter is in the military and it was one of the rooms that Disney gives the military at a discounted price. My grandbaby loved the pull-down bed that he slept on.

This is Disney’s premium lodgings at Disneyland and a measurable improvement over any of the nearby but out-of-park lodgings that I have experienced. Like the Disneyland Parks, parts of it are starting to show their age but it comfortably fulfilled the needs of our expended family of nine including five children.||The good: It’s hard not to be wowed by the rustic grandeur of the grand hall – ala Yosemite’s Ahwahnee on steroids. Luggage handling and check-in were efficient and polite. Our adjoining Downtown Disney View rooms – 3161/3163/3165 – were clean, comfortable, reasonably roomy, well appointed and tastefully decorated. The bedding arrangements differed across the rooms as our needs dictated but they worked well for accommodating five, three and one respectively. |Everything expected of 5-stars was there and it all worked as expected. The bathrooms were similarly well appointed, were also well lit and supplied with quality toiletries. |All rooms opened to a small balcony overlooking Downtown Disney which spectacle – noise included – really comes to life at night. A plus (considerable) cost breakfast buffet is offered at the hotel’s Storytellers Cafe which features a parade of Disney characters (inc. plenty of photo ops) and is a must-do for the kids – unless you plan an early start in the parks. | |The not so good: Disney evidently aspires to the best here but there are a few flaws, most of which could be very easily remedied. As our family was coming for different corners of the world for this gathering, we planned this trip well ahead, but the hotel rooms were not available for booking until a few months out and even then we booked through an agency because the Disney website still showed no availability. There was a huge array of pillows on the beds in our rooms but almost all of then were of the speed-bump variety: hard and unyielding. It took some time to secure pillows that we could actually sleep on. Whilst the air-conditioning worked well, it was accompanied by a considerable amount of fan noise which, when combined with the evening hubbub from Downtown Disney, necessitated sleeping with earplugs. ||Finally: the food at the hotel’s Storytellers Café (we had breakfast and dinner) definitely fell short of a five-star standard. Yes, it was plentiful and wholesome, but variety and taste were definitely MIA. Mind you, that observation could be applied across the entirety of the Disney operations at Anaheim: it may be a feast for the other senses but taste is left out in the cold. ||The upshot: we’d still return and we’d still stay at this hotel because it was a wonderful experience for all of my children and grandchildren.

This hotel is perfect in every way! If you're looking for a spot that makes it quick and easy to get into the park or to come back midday, this is your hotel. If you're looking for a hotel that has a lobby and fireplace that is beautiful and relaxing for some downtime, this is your hotel. If you're looking for great food and drink options in property, this is your hotel. And it goes without saying the service is great and the rooms are lovely. This is always our #1 choice of hotels when going to Disneyland!

Amazing hotel, luxurious and perfectly located for access to Disneyland and California Adventure. We had 5 days here and found it a great place to relax, eat and come and go from the parks. If you want greatly appointed accommodation with large rooms and incredible service, look no further that the Grand Californian Hotel.

I was in town for a conference and did a drop in. The instructor (Josh) did a great job of educating and walking us through the movements. We did a dedicated strength day and worked on our deadlift form which was much needed. I really appreciated the
