Nice easy hiking/walking. Lots of trails are well marked and easy to navigate. We brought our 2 big dogs and saw many others on the trail. Park is adjacent to a rest area with restrooms, water, soda machines, and even a food vending machine (which was OOO when we were there.

Terrific place for a hike or bike ride. Lots of options and they have a boardwalk that is just magical. Make sure you take a bug spray with you. Bears are not common but you do see them. Great place for family to hangout for the day.

Really nice visitor center, boardwalk and trails. It was a nice couple hour break from a long drive. The video in the visitor center is very informative and a good start before walking the boardwalk and trails. Also varied length trails, depending on how much time you have. Very enjoyable and highly recommended if you're in the area.

Nice park with a cool boardwalk that meanders through the swamp. The visitor center has great exhibits including some fur from some of the animals that can be found within, hopefully, deep in the swamp. Also has a cool sliding bride that is operated when boats come through that we got to see in action

We have transited the Dismal Swamp Canal twice and greatly enjoyed each trip. We only draw 3 1/2’ so did not have to worry too much about touching bottom. Logs can be a problem, but going slow and staying far behind any other boats will prevent most bumps. Going fast will only induce “boat squat” which will feel like the spirits of the swamp pulling you back. Wildlife along the banks is very easy to spot as the shoreline and trees will only be a few feet away. All the personnel maintaining the canal, locks, and park were very friendly and offered great advice for visiting the area. Thanks to everyone responsible for keeping the canal open. Crew of Pelican

This particular trail head (the loop) is much more scenic and pleasant than any of the other Dismal Swamp trails I've tried, actual dirt trails instead of just pavement or un-walkable mud. This trail has stunning ecology to apreciate, including six spotted tiger beetles! Unfortunately they raise the only foot bridge going in at 5:30, so you can't be out later than that... Other warning: TONS of ticks. I bathed in bug spray and I didn't go into any brush or tall grass and I found 3 on me after only an hour and a half of walking.
