Discovery Inn & Suites - Motel in Lafayette - 120 E Kaliste Saloom Rd, USA

Good hotel for the price, $50 was a good deal for us. Beware the pool is not as shown on the pictures. It is not open and will probably not be open soon. There were some homeless types staying there but seemed to be well behaved and they didn't bother anyone. They serve a cold continental breakfast which was not too bad. I can say the housekeeping staff was very good as the rooms were very clean and well kept. The rooms were made up every day with fresh towels and made up beds.

The owner and the staff are helpful and kind. You can sense the fact that the cleaners enjoy what they do and take pride in their work. You can catch the owner and his son around the premises taking good care of their business and I love that energy. I gave the location four stars only because of the morning traffic when your trying to get to work! This is a busy intersection but a well located one. A safe area with several businesses literally within walking distance to keep you fed. I must admit I was skeptical at first because of the inexpensive price however this business exceeded my expectations exponentially

Before I forget, at least in room 107, there is a 'powerpack' that controls the lights for each bed. There is a small switch behind it that turns on the lights...it's a bit awkward. Also, I don't think the pool is 'operational'. The desk attendant was helpful when I arrived. Like lots of rooms in the south, blankets are lacking, so I had to take the blanket from the other bed. The A/C wasn't too loud which is usually a problem and the internet reception was fine.

First off we get there and are informed the room might not be ready because putting down new carpet and it was after check in time. Had to wait for furniture to be put back in room. Carpet was not put down good. Was charged a $50 deposit for a run down nasty room. There is nothing on listing about it. I’ve even gone back and looked again and can’t find it but in other reviews the hotel says it’s listed when others have complained about it too. Microwave was not plugged up and no where to plug it in at. Hair dryer didn’t work. Toilet was hard to get to flush. Had to hold handle down for a long time and several tries before would flush. Seen several roaches! Bed was not comfortable at all! Because of the $50 deposit, I took pics of everything in the room. Even a bug on a pillow! This is a run down hotel even though their reply to reviews says they are updating and this comments go back years. Do not stay here, you will regret it! I definitely learned a lesson. I go to New Orleans a lot and stay in the French Quarter and have been charged a deposit but this is not the French Quarter and it’s a nasty run down room.

Such a great place for the price! The desk staff was really friendly, as others have mentioned. My room was really nice--very clean and smelled nice. There are some cosmetic issues like cracks, but that's only because it's old.

On extended road trip and all I’m really looking for is a clean , quiet place with a comfortable bed and a reasonable price. The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and accommodating. We asked for a non-smoking room, but the room given smelled like cigarettes...we were changed to another room without a fuss. Beds were comfy, parts of the room were dated, but didn’t bother me. Breakfast room very clean with basic breakfast items...I appreciate that they use mostly paper products instead of styrofoam! Thank you!

Don't let the appearance of the place fool you. I admit I was skeptical when I first arrived but after getting sorted out in my room all felt just right. The new carpet on the floor and the revamped bathroom was a nice touch. I found the bed good and comfortable and the AC kept the room at the perfect temperature. Must add here, the desk clerk, Timothy, was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the pool is not in service (not that I had time anyway) and there is no breakfast or airport shuttle (because Covid) but all in all, the place is a diamond in the rough :)

Everything expected for the price. However, the bed coverings were good. No musty smells. rooms were large. All amenities were in the room, even extra seating. Currently they are housing the homeless for several charities, so if being around the homeless [they tend to walk around] is a bother, then you may reconsider the visit. Personnel were pleasant. I would return. Its privacy is number one for me.
