Diner 54 - Diner in Kirksville - 2700 S Baltimore St, USA

It was decent. The meals were delicious, the appetizer platter was a mixed review. The guy seating us didn't say a word to us and just ran ahead. We were confused if we were supposed to follow, but he was just standing next to a seat waiting for us. Would have been nice to have some instructions. On the appetizers, the onion rings were by far the best thing. The potato skins had a ton of bacon, but they weren't very warm, the cheese was a bit crusty. The cheese sticks weren't gooey at all. The chicken tenders were very dry and could have used some sauce, but we only got marinara and sour cream. For meals, I ordered the Philly steak sandwich. It wasn't shredded beef like normal, but it was actual steak cut into strips. Very good and fresh. Lots of onions on it. My partner got the all you can eat catfish but they didn't even finish the first plate so we didn't test that out. It was also very good though and came with two sides.

I had high hopes for this diner as the menu looked tasty. But when we sat down yesterday for lunch we noticed a racial epithet on the physical menu (see photo). And then the chicken melt or the soup my wife ordered made her ill. So, you might want to skip this place.

I don't remember our servers name but she did a great job. They were very busy. we ordered a sample plater, Chicken strips, mozzarella stick & homemade ranch was great! Onion rings were soggy & full of grease. The potato skins cold, rubbery, microwaved? The tenderloin was similar to a frozen "porkie" cutlet from the grocery store & is just as thin and tasteless. The Frisco burger was pretty bad, obviously frozen patty, tasted freezer-burnt, on toasted white bread. Our food looked great....but it was Vile! The place was clean and packed with people, I was amazed.....we tried each other's food to make sure we weren't crazy! We left without eating, our server offered it to us for free, but paid & tipped her because she really tried to help.

The restaurant was clean, we were greeted when we arrived. The place was busy, but not crowed at 3:45pm on Thursday afternoon. We ordered Gyro sandwich, Reuben sandwich, Fried whole catfish. All items were quite good. Along with sides of fries, soup, and blackberry pie for dessert. We'll be back on our next trip to Kirksville.

Stopped by for dinner, first time for me to eat here, and definitely not a fan! Server was very attentive and fast. I ordered a salad and was astounded when it came out. The cheese was regular sliced sandwich cheese that they cut up in strips and laid on top 😔 The ham was thin sliced sandwich ham that they cut up in strips / pieces as well. An overload of onions 😬 And hardly any lettuce. Definitely worse made salad I ever ordered.

Easy to find and get to. Seated quickly and the place seemed clean. They got our drinks quickly, I had Pepsi and the ladies had water. I got a hamburger steak with two fried eggs over easy. The wife got an omelette with hash browns. The orders were large so it should be plenty to eat. Our waitress kept our glasses full and was very nice about taking on my glass refills. I would come back

Last Saturday, the coffee was good and the waitress was nice. My scrambled eggs were cooked so hard they had brown spots, my pancake was difficult to cut with a fork and I had to use a knife (it has a tough skin in it and was flat/no fluff), and the toast was either cooked so much or it was so stale it was difficult to tear with my teeth. I've had 2 bad breakfasts there in a row.

For average priced meals you will get 5 star service and a delicious meal. I got the steak sandwich and hot wings. A little too much bread on the wings but easy to pick off... very good. The sandwich is pictured. It was a very simple concept and totally delicious. The fries were amazing. My waitress visited my table anytime my drink was past half full. She was conversational and fun. I'll be back next time I'm in this part of town. Oh and they make their own dressing... mmmmm.
