The Marriott is an older property in desperate need of an exhaustive floor-to-ceiling renovation. ||||While the lobby and restaurant were recently refreshed, the hallways and guest rooms are at least 5-7 years overdue for a renovation. Likewise, the exterior and grounds are tired in some places.||||Often the Westin inside the Detroit airport main terminal is priced the same as the Marriott. If the prices are the same, why would you stay 10-15 minutes away?||||Even if you save $50 or $75 a night, the wait for the free shuttle bus can take an hour. That's just unacceptable. Making the shuttle bus even more predictable are its stops at a nearby Courtyard and the secondary terminal used by most of the airlines other than Delta. Depending on the time of the day, this can add considerable time to your trip to and from the hotel.||||Basically, you need to take an Uber to and from the airport. That totally defeats the purpose of staying at the hotel. Shuttles need to run in both directions every 15-20 minutes maximum. They also shouldn't stop at another hotel||||On the plus side, staff are very good to great. ||||Rooms have good pillows and newer TVs.||||The lobby bar and restaurant has good drinks and food for dinner, although the breakfast offering both in the restaurant and the concierge lounge is poor. You're better off eating breakfast at the airport if you have access to an airline lounge. The free breakfast at a Holiday Inn Express is better and of a higher quality than the non-free breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant. ||||All things considered, the Marriott is a comfortable property but rooms are outdated and the shuttle bus is unreliable. The Westin for under $300 is a muh better value.

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott after landing at Detroit's airport. The previous comments about the shuttle are accurate and were our experience. We missed the shuttle pickup by about 1 minute. That forced us to take a $30 taxi ride to the airport. Our room was mostly clean. The bathroom could have been cleaner. Front Desk staff were polite. The concierge lounge was closed for the holidays though you could still access it for Pepsi and bottled water. We also received a couple $10 vouchers for the restaurant. My husband is a Titanium with Marriott. The hotel really made him feel welcome and his loyalty appreciated. Unfortunately we couldn't use the vouchers because the only breakfast offering at the hotel is a very basic buffet. We already had breakfast included because of the rate that we booked. The buffet was awful. My husband does around 75 nights a year with Marriott. He said it was one of the worst buffets he has seen. Just melon, powdered eggs, potatoes, meat, oatmeal and cerel. No berries. No egg station with omelets. No pancakes. No ala carte menu. Self-serve coffee. Awful. We would have gladly used our vouchers or paid extra for a more premium quality breakfast. What the hotel is offering is inexcusable.

Every hotel has its good and bad reviews depending on a number of personal and property related issues. We have stayed here numerous times and this visit was not a disappointment. Could the hotel use updating / renovation? Yes as is the case with numerous properties in the area. Was it an issue? No. The hotel is clean. The room was comfortable and quiet. The lounge was not open Thanksgiving week but is now open post-COVID which was a huge issue for so many properties during the pandemic. The breakfast buffet was not elaborate but still very good (free to me as a Platinum member). Katie who helped us at breakfast was super. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking is now $10 per day which is new since our last stay but I suspect this is to discourage free park and fly / no stay individuals tying up spaces. The hotel location is excellent (7 min from the Hertz return). Would absolutely stay here again.

Stayed the night of December 18, 2023 with my kids. Had an early flight the next morning. My daughter forgot her eyeglasses in our room on the beside table in plain sight. Before boarding our plane, I called the front desk, asking them to notify housekeeping and to retrieve the glasses for us. They assured me that they would notify housekeeping and they took my contact information in order to arrange for their delivery. However, in the following days, I was never contacted by Marriott. Thus, I had to follow-up and call the hotel four times(!) over several days to find out about the status of the glasses. There was nothing but confusion and a complete lack of communication between the front desk and their housekeeping, as it was plainly obvious that my original request was never delivered. In the end, my daughter's glasses were not found (likely taken), and as a result I had to spend hundreds of dollars on new frames and lenses. Completely unprofessional. I expected more from Marriott.

Pros: 1. It’s a perfect location near the airport and near walkable restaurants. 2. Front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. 3. Food is delicious and the service is fast. Cons: 1. Mobile key card has never worked for me on the first try. I always need to return to the front desk, defeating the purpose of the mobile key card and bypassing the front desk. 2. Pool is not heated.

Very close to airport. Restaurant/ lounge area is pitiful. The “manager” a heavy set man observed his staff being overwhelmed by guests and did not off any assistance, and even criticized a server for not being able to greet a guest within 3 min. There was one bartender and one server for approximately 30 guests and he only leaned on the bar and poured himself “juice”. Food was hot, quick and good. It’s just disappointing to see servers/ bartenders overwhelmed with manger directly seeing this, but refusing to help. The rooms are very loud and dated due to the to proximity to airport. TVs are nice and large and allows us to stream our shows on our Prime accounts. No trash/ ice bags in room and the ice machine was broke. The front desk attendants were GREAT. They were extremely nice upon arrival and departure. They took most of the sour-ness out of our other experiences.

The staff is top notch. I had a minor problem that was quickly and fully resolved. Hotel was fine for business meetings, but a little dated. Gym is very limited, never saw anyone in the pool although it is large and clean. There was (clean) water in the tub at check in (probably bc stopper was detached) and some bathroom floor tiles were discolored (didn’t complain about this bc so minor). Located at the airport but never heard the planes. Stayed on concierge floor, but really just a typical hotel room. Concierge breakfast was good, but dinner was more like appetizers (pot stickers, etc) Room appeared standard size but furniture arrangement made it feel smaller.

A great location with plenty of amenities, including a full service restaurant with some of the best chicken and pancakes I've had! Besides the air conditioner being a little busted, and the low water pressure of the shower, the room was great. The bed was large and very clean, and there were plenty of places to plug in devices. Would I stay here again? Yes. Would I recommend this place to a friend? Yes.
