Deluxe Oceanfront Motel & Cottages - Motel in Old Orchard Beach - 187 E Grand Ave, USA

Right on the beach. The lower rooms are below the beach in the 'basement'. You can see our casement windows to the beach but you cannot sit inside and watch the water. The 'manager' had just left the company so that may have affected the service. The beds were not made. Also, there were no mats to clean your sandy feet. So the sand was everywhere. At one point the passage between buildings was roped off. I guess non-guests were walking through there to get to the beach but it made it difficult for us to get through with baggage. There was a lot of mold in the shower and the stove was dirty with crumbs and splatters.

I am not sure what happened to this place but Brenda is out of the picture and they have no record of all the bookings she made for the 2024 year. They could not accommodate us even though we had an airbnb booking. This vacation was planned since last fall and was ruined.

First of all we made the reservations in November of 2022 to stay in a cabin. She gave us cabin #11 and received a confirmation email. We saw pictures of it and it looked nice. The deposit and the final payment were both paid on time. Then about a week before arrival Brenda emailed and said she would be in contact with us to give us the code to get into the cabin 5 days prior to arrival. Never heard from her. Tried calling her, Air bnb and email with no response. We left to head to Maine not knowing if we actually had a place to stay. There were 7 of us. She finally emailed us while we were on the road heading there. Talk about stressful! We finally got there and they told us she switched us to cabin #6 when we were supposed to be in #11! She said someone was in cabin 11, so she obviously overbooked it. Cabin 6 was NOT as nice as the pics of cabin 11. There was no counter space, it was dirty, no water pressure in the shower, only 1 T.V, the air conditioners were old and loud! It also smelled so musty by the kitchen sink that we had to buy air fresheners. The back porch had painted plywood as the floor and the flys in the house were ridiculous! We bought fly swatters and left them there! It was pretty cramped for all of us too. I only gave it a 1 because it's right on the beach. That's the only good thing it has. I will never deal with those people again! Crooks!

Ils n'ont jamais répondu à nos appele, courriels, textos.||||Nous avons dû annuler notre voyage à une journée du départ comme tous les hébergements accueillants deux familles (donc 2 bébés) étaient déjà loués à aussi court préavis.

À la mi-juin, nous avions reçu un courriel nous avisant que les informations d'arrivée nous seraient transmises 5 jours avant notre arrivée. Quelques jours avant notre arrivée prévue, nous n'avons jamais été en mesure de joindre les hôtes, tel que prévu, pour obtenir les infos d'accès à la propriété ni même pour un remboursement. Ils n'ont jamais répondu à nos appels, courriels, textos et ont répondu à un seul texto mentionnant que ce n'était pas de leur faute et que c'était la faute de la plateforme de location, sans excuse ni dédommagement, ni solutions alternatives. Nous avons dû annuler notre voyage à une journée du départ comme tous les hébergements accueillant deux familles (dont 2 bébés) étaient déjà loués à aussi court préavis. Un beau voyage en famille et amis gâché. Situation inacceptable et réellement non professionnelle. Méfiez-vous.

Nous sommes arrivés à l'hôtel et il y avait déjà des gens dans notre unité. On a essayé de communiquer avec l'hôte Brenda par téléphone et par courriel et elle ne nous a jamais répondu. La femme de ménage a texté Brenda notre situation et la réponse à été que Airbnb avait supprimé notre réservation, ce qui après vérification, était complètement faux et 2 jours avant nous avait envoyé un message de faire nos valises......On lui a demandé de nous trouver un autre endroit et elle nous a répondu d'aller voir 2 autres hôtels et qu'elle n'était pas responsable de rien. Essayez donc de vous trouvez autre chose un vendredi du mois d'août quand il n'y a plus rien de libre après 6h de route....et à nos frais en plus !!!!! Aucun effort et coopération de cette chère Brenda!!! Cauchemar !!! Ne perdez pas votre temps à réserver à cet endroit, vous devrez probablement dormir dans votre voiture !!!

I have been staying at the Deluxe Oceanfront Hotel and Cottages for over 20 years. We started by renting a few rooms each summer to eventually renting entire floors. We learned that by doing so, we had the porches to ourselves, and if the weather turned bad, we could hang out together and not bother anyone. In 2019, we decided to rent the entire building. I spoke to Anna Crowther, the acting manager, and on September 28, 2019, I booked the entire building for 3 days in August, 2020. But due to Covid, our reservations were canceled and we were given the opportunity to roll our deposit to the following year. I asked Ms. Crowther if we could be offered the same rates and she agreed. We had to change our dates to a later week but on May 12, 2020 our reservations were made for August of 2021. During this time, Anna Crowther left the hotel and she was replaced by Brenda Larain. I made two payments to the hotel, one in April and the second in June to cover the complete balance due. In the time after payment was made, I had spoken with Brenda several times with questions regarding our stay and to confirm that we had the whole hotel. She confirmed this several times. (I also have all paperwork.) On Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 I tried to reach Brenda several times on my phone concerning check-in times and she never answered any of my calls, nor did she return my messages. On Thursday, August 19th when we showed up for our vacation, we were told that they had rented two of the three rooms on the second floor. We were offered rooms in “the cabin”. When I complained that we wanted to be together, which was the whole point of renting the entire hotel, I was shunned with an “oh well”. I then asked why they could not move the guests that were on our second floor to “the cabin” and was told that they had inconvenienced them enough already. Our inconvenience was of no interest to her. We also learned that there were children in one of these rooms, exactly what we were avoiding by renting the entire hotel. When we said we might be loud, (for children) this was interpreted that we were going to disrupt the whole complex, which resulted in one of the staff telling Allen, the owner, who was never part of any of this conversation, but suddenly appears now from “the office” to tell us....and I quote: “Get the f*&^ off my property.” Which he repeated. There was no cause for this language and no cause to throw us off the premises. We were simply looking for ways to solve the problem. I might add that the second floor is the most expensive in the building, they could have easily put these two guests on the third floor and it would not have inconvenienced anyone, but they were not looking for solutions. Never in the 20 years that I have stayed there have we ever had any problems with our group being too loud or obnoxious. We have always left the rooms in good condition and left hefty tips for the cleaning staff. We are a group of women ranging in ages from 40’s to 70’s who were left out in the rain, literally, in Old Orchard Beach with nowhere to go. It is impossible to get lodging for that many people on the fly. Many of these women had used their vacation days to go, time they cannot get back. Allen and his staff at Deluxe Oceanfront Hotel and Cottages were the rudest people I have ever encountered in the hospitality field. In all the phone calls I had with Brenda, she was cordial and polite, but this is not the Brenda I encountered on August 19th, 2021. They clearly had an agenda. Rent here at your own risk.

We loved it! ||We celebrated a 90th birthday, a retirement, an anniversary and another birthday. This was the perfect place to relive old memories and create new ones. ||We rented unit 8 and 9 and loved everything about the place. The beach and scenery were beautiful. The location was fantastic and just far away from the pier to have a lot of space on the beach but, close enough to walk to the pier when we wanted. ||The fire pits and picnic tables and private area to kick back and relax every night was a great bonus. ||The units were neat and clean and had plenty of towels and a lot of small bottles of shampoo/conditioner and makeup remover that you might expect at a 5 star hotel but never thought I would see at a beachfront cottage.||Anna was a text away and very responsive with any questions that I had. ||There were a few reviews from years ago that were not great. I was concerned prior to arriving but, I wish those older reviews could be completely removed. The establishment and the management company warrant only great reviews and I would highly recommend this location and Anna.
