Dell installs its own malware on your computer! Various Dell services run in the background and will gladly lock your entire system up for an hour at a time. Imagine paying premium prices for a laptop and then the manufacturer bloats it with junk software. I thought that was a 2004 problem, not a 2024 problem!

BEWARE - Dell has absolutely no customer service what-so-ever. There is a complete lack of customer service in the ordering process, use of the computers, in the return and refund process. Yes, while the return/refund should be simultaneous, at Dell, it is not. Every customer service contact that I have had with Dell, and for this nightmare order, it has a great many, has been with individuals that have less than startup English speaking skills. With each call, the reps did not understand me, no matter how slowly I was speaking, nor could I understand them. Manager requests were no better with the communication. I purchased one of the fastest computers sold with the highest amount of memory and processing speed from Dell and a DVD/BluRay player. Upon first turning the computer on, even before any programs were activated, the memory on the computer was already 36% consumed with the Dell background processes. This I9 core computer that I purchased would max out on processing (100%) with the simplest of formulas in brand new Excels file that I created from scratch. Bottom line is that Dell computers have so many things running in the background of their computers, doing any type of reporting/analytics will fail very quickly. I also asked on my first call to Customer Service where the BluRay/DVD player was and the rep told me that the add on that I made was not a player, but a background DVD improvement. The rep asked if I wanted him to activate the software and I specifically told him no, as I did not order software. The rep activated the software against my wishes. I made call after call to get the computer working and was instructed differently each time and promised with each call that it was corrected, which was not the case at all. After 3 weeks, I made the resigned decision to return the computer. In completing the return form, I specifically selected, "computer did not work", but when I submitted my return request, the reason for the return was changed to "changed my mind", which is absolutely NOT what I chose. I waited a week and a half after sending the package back to Dell and called to check on the status of my refund. The rep that told me that the computer had been received back at Dell, but "oooops" no refund had been initiated. This rep assured me that within two business days, a Dell rep would contact me regarding my refund status. No return call was ever made. Three business days later I called Dell again and demanded an expedition of my refund. The customer service rep not only verbally assured me that a refund would be expedited, processed and completed within 48 hours. The refund never occurred. In an absolute desperate move, I wrote to every Executive Team Member of Dell on Wed. Oct. 11th, begging for assistance for my refund. Without any response, one of the team members forwarded my desperate note to Escalation. The rep of Escalation told me that the records showed that I returned the computer via FedEx, but that he would need time to find out if Dell had received the computer back. 16 days after I returned the computer, Dell had still not logged the receipt of the return. Not only is this completely ridiculous, especially when a previous rep had already confirmed that it had been received, the Escalation rep told a day later he had still not managed to confirm receipt. I then wrote to the owner of Dell, and told him that I needed confirmation of a complete refund before end of day, otherwise I would let the world know how I was treated by Dell. No response. If you have any interest in a well working computer, DO NOT BUY A COMPUTER FROM DELL. If you have any interest in having access to customer service reps that speak English at least clearly enough that they can understand basic questions, or in receiving accurate information, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM DELL. If you want to make a purchase from a company run by executives that care about customer service....I am sure you can guess.
