We attended a semi-formal church function at Deerfield one evening. It's a nice clean place. Well decorated. Good catering staff. Food was good but they didn't serve the million dollar bacon I've been hearing so much about. Seems to be a popular wedding venue.
Very nice and very challenging Northern Delaware golf course. The greens are cut well and roll true. The tee boxes are in excellent shape. Fairways are pristine, rough is perfect height and pace of play is perfect. Shot and club selection is highly rewarded on this course. I can't wait to play it again!
I love coming to work here!! The staff is always easy-going and accommodating, the natural light pours into the ballroom making it super easy and beautiful for us to photograph and the grounds are photogenic everywhere without having to go too far for the perfect shot. The kitchen staff did a great job at getting plates out promptly and there’s a lot of space so things don’t feel crammed, like you’re always bumping into people. The light hits the back patio completely perfectly making photos a breeze. Sunset and golden hour photo opportunity is ample. There’s plenty of space all around for a big weddings and multiple areas for guests to flow in and out as they please. This venue is sure to impress and make your day super easy with all the accommodations they have in one spot.
My husband and I went to a event Deerfield and it was the worst experience we have ever had. They say things start from the top and this couldn't be more true for how this place in run. The maturate was extremely rude, pushy and miserable. She harassed my husband after he was coming in from getting me a sweater from the car, asking if he was bringing a drink in when he had none in his hand. At one point she was waving her hands around and yelling at her employees. Our entree didn't arrive until almost 9pm, clearly she was in the wrong profession, reminded me of a correctional officer. Food was the worst I've ever eaten at a catering hall, everything was dry and bland. Would never come back, place should find new management.
We have been to Deerfield for the Thanksgiving dinner and have also hosted events here. It remains a favorite spot: the dining room is lovely and light for brunch. The staff are fabulous... and in the past the food has been very good. Something to look forward to for a special time. Sorry to say this year was not one of their best. I don't know if it's budget issues but I would rather have paid a bit more, than pay almost $100 for what we got. Very disappointing. In the past the Thanksgiving appetizer buffet was wonderful with things like mini crab cakes and shrimp. Not this year... a soggy selecation of three salads (mixed, ceasar and curried coleslaw). That was it! Basically, they've done away with the appetizer table and made it a mediocre salad bar. That was it!
The main buffet focussed almost entirely on the turkey which since it was thanksgiving is ok, but the prime rib was dished out two tiny slices at a time. Pork roast was ok, but served with turkey(?) gravy. Everything was cheap. How expensive is turkey, potatoes and two kinds of stuffing. Oh and a dish of pasta.... For close to $100. Sorry, not interested in salmon on Thanksgiving.
Desserts were nice, but the apple pie was served without either ice cream or whipped cream! Yikes Really would that have been too expensive? I would rather have paid another 10 or 15 bucks than pay what we did for what we got. No quibbles with the service or ambiance, but food was not up to par.
If I could give 10/5 stars I would! Have your next event at Deerfield, they have a the BEST team to make your day memorable. My bridal shower was amazing thanks to the amazing staff here at Deerfield. Alex, the events manager, Griffin the events coordinator, Adele, Patrick, and all the other wonderful staff and managers made my bridal shower an absolute joy. Alex was a gem from the first email to the morning of. She handled everything and always responded in a timely manner: They were all kind, courteous, polite, attentive, accommodating, professional! The set-up was absolutely perfect and I can’t thank them enough.
Great course, some of the par 4s play long due to the elevation change. Greens and fairways were all in great shape. Staff was very energetic and friendly. It is great that they offer a Jr rate even on the weekends. We will definitely be back.
