Days Inn by Wyndham McKinney - Hotel in McKinney - 2104 N Central Expy N, USA

I wish I didn’t wait so long to write this review but life got ahead of me. My family and I stayed here in May of this year (2024) for a graduation and I was petrified from reading the past reviews and made my family who lives in Texas check it out for me. They assured me the place was nice and I’m so glad we stayed here. The owners are so sweet and our rooms were not just clean but smelled clean. There was a mini fridge, microwave, desk, chair, perfectly functioning AC and extremely clean bathroom. I truly wish the past reviews can be wiped because I would 100% stay here again and recommend it to family and friends.

Property was clean inside and out. Looks to be newly remodeled. Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. Amazing price. Owner checked us in he was nice as well. Loved that there was no carpet!! Pool area was clean and pool was clean/clear. Ac and tv worked in room. Ice maker worked as well. Shower was clean no mold! Entire room was updated. Wish there was usb plugs somewhere in the room. That’s my only complaint. Would stay here again.

The rooms here are recently updated however, when I arrived late the first night my TV was on so when I went to turn it off the remote did t work. It was late so I wasn't worried about it so I went to lock up for the night. I couldn't secure my door because the top latch was loose and when I went to deadbolt the door saw that there was drywall angle screwed to the door face because someone had kicked in the door. The next morning on my drive to the office I witnessed homeless cart at the back of the breezeway and I instructed the gentleman at the desk that I'd like to have the TV and night latch fixed. I got in from work around 9pm and noticed nothing was fixed, I called the front desk and they told me they would send maintenance down. I waited an hour so I got my shower and again put bags and computer bag in front off the door as to feel a little more secure. I told the front desk when I left and all they could say was Sorry. Do not stay here because of security issues.

The owners will try to rip you off charge you like if it was a five-star hotel if you have to stay there look it up on Google Maps it'll give you links to better prices at the same hotel but the owners hate that and we'll try to charge you the highest price possible it's bearly 2 star they want to charge 5-star prices they asked for $50 deposit but if you give them $100 bill they don't want to give you the $50 change if you give them 3-20's they'll do the same with $5 they're tight and they'recheap. And if you can pay cash because if you pay with a card and take some forever to give you the money back. all kinds of thugs walking around at all hours of the night I had a black couple banging on my door twice in one night looking for who knows what. And if you do stay multiple nights they don't want to clean your room regularly grasshoppers roaches flies crawling around I do not recommend this place at all they give me one price charge my card $40 more do not stay here you'll regret it

Broke down and this was the cheapest place near us. Outside of property was clean, some construction nearby. We were pulling a trailer and there was parking available for us. There was even a few semis here. No trash anywhere on property. Pool and pool area looked nice and clean. Pool was clear. We didn’t go swimming though. Ice machine near room worked. Room was clean. Looks like they remodeled the rooms recently. Fridge was a little wore out looking but didn’t use. Was cold though. Ac worked well in room. Tv worked. There was a couple stains on the bed here and there. But I didn’t care. Bed was okay. I like soft and husband likes firm. Pillows was really nice! I’d stay here again. As for breakfast I’ll have to update in the morning. If we go. Not sure why there’s so many bad reviews. The owner was nice and friendly! He’s who checked us in.

Property was located near highway, shopping and restaurants. Cats are accepted. Some hotels say pets welcome on website and then dogs only when you get there. Room was very clean. Nice vinyl floors. Decor in room looked like it had been recently updated. Will definitely stay here again!

Just too many things went wrong:||||Got to the hotel after a long day and drive, the guy puts me in a room that apparently had been skipped by the cleaning crew. Towels were on the floor and bed wasn't made, so that was obvious.||Get new room and it didn't have a microwave, I instantly let front desk know. Had to call them twice more the next morning before I got a microwave in the room.||The next morning I wake up to massive roaches on the floor. Called front desk again and they wouldn't do anything about it. Will never stay here again and will be calling the local health department.||Location is in a great spot though. That was the ONLY positive thing about this hotel, but there are better hotels in the area

Relatively decent price at 75 per night… Definitely could be less expensive Super friendly and accommodating staff/owners who I think live here Reasonably safe… So far Cleanliness: I can see that the floor gets cleaned, but there are dust bunnies… I do yoga and when I put my mat down and I’m face-to-face with floor level, I can definitely see spiderwebs under the Air Conditioning and bunnies which would be more of a deep cleaning Bathtub was clean sink are clean countertops and surfaces are mostly all very clean and appearance The front door knob on the inside had smears and goo that must have been there for a long time… I had to wipe it down. It was so disgusting. My hand was sticking to the door knob very gross. Front door does not close all the way, but has been adjusted so that it can mostly close. It stays about a half inch a jar from being in the door frame as it should. It appears the door has been kicked into previously as the molding around the door has a metal plate kind of secured over it. The security latch at the top the bolts are completely loose on the door… If I had a Phillips head screwdriver, I would screw them down Unit has a refrigerator that works great The storage and shelving in this unit are over and above and beyond useful and functional… This was a nice surprise. There is no closet, but the hooks on the bench area are better than a closet. Room comes with a little coffee, service and hairdryer The desk area has a nice fashionable and usable, rolling chair The nightstands are very useful, no drawers, but there are light switches and plugs on both sides of the bed… Super convenient The decor is not my style, but it is relatively newer, looking and in really good shape compared to some of the five star posh places I have stayed in Texas. Not my style, but it is well appointed. The curtains are very nice, blackout curtains… Again, not my style at all, but they do the job The quiet AC i set at 60° I like it really really cold when I’m sleeping. And it got really really cold. It was wonderful. I had to turn it up during the day when I am inside the room doing things. It was too cold & this is august in TX! The lights in the bathroom area are so bright. I skipped over to Walmart and bought a nightlight. The location is so convenient to so many big box local stores and restaurants. You can literally go everywhere without getting on the highway… The location is right on the highway too. The parking lot is convenient as the spaces are far enough apart that you do not have someone banging your vehicle when they get in and out. Not sure exactly what’s going on with the cleaning crew, but apparently they sweep the upper floor debris down into the parking lot and the parking lot is never cleaned… There is all kinds of garbage Candy wrappers candy pieces of trash cigarette butts all over the entire parking lot. That’s kind of gnarly but for the other good points I’m happy to overlook that. It is so hot someone would have to come out in early morning to do this sweeping or late late evening. It is super hot here in McKinney Texas. The bathtub looks new and clean. I will be taking a soak for sure. Oh, but you better bring your own flat bathtub drain stopper… There is a drain cat that will not allow a stopper to go into the drain, but you can use the flat reverse seal that goes across the top of the drain The showerhead is good, even though it is really far away for short people like me who have really long hair… It worked pretty good to rinse my hair, and I didn’t have to stand there forever or run around in the bathtub trying to get drops to hit me… The showerhead is functional The shower curtain is the kind that could be taken down and washed. It is totally clean Plenty of towels and a decent towel rack The paint in the room on the walls is in great condition. The only part of the room that seems to be a bit abused and deferred is the wall area next to the front door, the front door itself, and the door molding and hardware. Overall, decent for the price
