Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Wausau - Hotel in Wausau - 225520 Rib Mountain Dr, USA

I chose a ground floor queen. It was exactly what I wanted. The hot breakfasts were better than most self-serve. They were quite good. I could walk to a variety of restaurants, with other shopping a few miles away. |Issue: Hard to find, behind the McDonald's. Apparently there are signage restrictions. Also, my 2021 Auto Navigation did not have the revised numbering (which is not Days Inn fault)

I hate to write bad reviews but had to on this one.||My wife and I were visiting family in the Wausau area for a couple of days and booked into this Days Inn based on reviews and price/value. Never again. When we arrived, the check-in person seemed "off". Definitely different. He assigned us Room 205. We then found out there was no elevator, we had a huge suitcase, and I'm 73 and my wife is 65. We asked to be moved o a ground floor room and, although there were almost no cars in the parking lot, he said there were no downstairs rooms available. The front desk person never offered to get our bag up the stairs. I managed to get the huge suitcase we had up the stairs and found our room right next to the stairs. The door leading to the stairs has an automatic closer that basically slams the door shut as anyone enters or exits. Also, the ice machine is right there too. The final thing is that our room was on the freeway side of the building.||Basically, 1) we had noise all night from the freeway, 2) we heard everyone go in and out of the stairway, 3) at 5 am someone decided to fill their ice chest with ice, 4) the room smelled musty, 5) the toilet was either dirty or very stained from not being cleaned in the past, 6) already said no elevator, 7) the bed mattress sits on a wire frame and not box springs so was a little hard, and finally, the breakfast provided consisted of cereal, bread/bagels, a waffle machine and coffee (weak)/juice. We walked across the parking lot and ate at MacDonalds for breakfast. When you turned on the light in the bathroom, the light over the vanity and the light/vent would both come on together so you couldn't leave them on as the sound was too much. I wondered why they did it that way and then noticed that the light switch plate was a double and had one side as blank and the other a switch. I believe that originally there were 2 switches, 1 for the vanity light and 1 for the vent fan/light, then there was a problem, so they tied both to 1 switch. Luckily when we travel we bring a night light we can plug in a hotel bathroom.||The only positive I have for this hotel as they have a great indoor pool and jacuzzi.||If you choose to stay here, definitely get an even numbered room which is away from the freeway. I know I will never stay here again..........and, I have stayed at many Days Inn and Suites which were very good. This one should be called just Days Inn.

Loved my stay here! Wendy was amazing at helping me with my reservation and local shopping. The pool/hot tub area was extremely relaxing while I stayed the night to see my mother at the hospital.

Positive: Location and pool Negative: Comforters were stained and front desk was extremely rude! Pool was also dirty. Had huge hunks of hair and band-aids in it .? kids were upset I wouldn?t let them swim .

Amenities are fine. Staff very helpful and friendly. Our bed? Probably one of the hardest and most stressful n comfortable beds we have ever tried to sleep on. If you have any back issues, not a good fit.

Arrived on Friday afternoon around 5, front desk attendant wasn’t friendly but just ok.Room was clean, and in quiet location . We noticed safe wasn’t working, batteries were taken out so we tried to call the front desk and the phone didn’t work. We left for the night and the next day brought up to Jim the manager, he personally came to our room added batteries and fixed the phone. (was plugged in the wrong place), we also had asked for the password for WFi, and was told it was on the cover of our key cover and it was not, gave us an old password which did not work. Jim also gave us the correct one. These were not huge issues but enf that I didn’t give a 5 star ! The 2 female reps. were also very nice and friendly ! Breakfast was very good and enf chooses . Location in Wausau very close to many restaurants and shops. We didn’t use the pool .

Nice and clean hotel near all the things in Wausau! Staff was polite and helpful, room was nice and comfortable, breakfast was free and great! The price was also great!

TERRIBLE!!! I will never stay here again and would recommend that no one else bother with this dump either. In town one night for my grandmothers funeral, with 5 booked rooms and was RUDELY told we could not invite our cousins to use the pool with us. The hotel parking lot is EMPTY, it's a SUNDAY NIGHT. This is ridiculous for a place of this scale to enforce such a silly rule. We've stayed at many other hotels in the area over the years and every single time have had cousins to swim and have NEVER experienced this kind of rudeness or idiocy! The front desk person was also rude to another member of our party upon check-in, and couldn't find the "non-refundable" reservation made by another member of our party - which resulted in charges for an additional room. I'm so sad that I ruined such an important trip by booking this place.
