I've been in the Davenport house several times over the years and recently stopped in again. The home has undergone some recent updates to the basement; showing the kitchen, dining, and cleaning rooms.
I do wish there were some interior design updates to the main house, as it's quite empty furniture wise, compared to other house museums. It would be nice to hear more about the Davenport family while touring instead of so much focus on the builder and yellow fever.
But overall, it's a very nice depiction of the era and what the house would have looked like in the 1800s.
Perfect place for a small wedding ceremony. Reasonable pricing. Sheena was absolutely amazing to work with and so sweet. It would be nice if they had their own chairs that you can pay extra for, which would be my only very small complaint. Definitely recommend this spot!!!
Cool home/museum tour in historic Savannah. Really gives you an idea what life was like in the past. Her guy was informative and pleasant. Worth a visit if you visit Savannah.
Davenport House has an interesting history and has been beautifully restored. The stately home was once a tenement; however, was rescued by seven women who worked together to save the home from demolition for future generations to enjoy.
Enjoyable tour. Need to go on more house tours in Savannah before I can truly compare. Enjoyed learning about the resourcefulness of Mrs. Davenport and especially appreciated that the history of the slaves were not diminished and all of their names were represented.
Over 200 yo house with a very interesting history of growth, decrepitude and glorious restoration. Great stories of the family told by a very well-informed guide.
This was our first house tour in Savannah. What a beautiful house! It was interesting that it was owned/built for a "middle class" family - a contractor who wanted to show his skills in his own home. He certainly did! Although, later, we went through the Owns Thomas home and saw the difference in materials for the wealthy. I guess things never change!
Fantastic museum preserving priceless history and keepsake of the art the beauty of the era. Grateful for much of the upkeep by Savannah historical society. Bravo 👏🥰

I love art museums! This one was in such a lovely setting. I was unfamiliar with the artists but felt like the collection was beautifully selected for the many expressions of the people depicted. It was a good balance of landscape and people. I love
My 9 yr old requested to go visit this museum and SCAD did not disappoint him at all. He was impressed with everything and that he could interact with the displays. Through the eyes of a child this museum gets a 10/10!

Great place to stay. The only thing that could have made our stay better would be a better mattress in our room. You are literally so close to a perfect review, but the mattresses need improvement!
