Danfords Hotel & Marina - Featured Reviews (1924)
Beautiful location! Great town. The remodeled rooms are very comfortable. Really liked the rain shower. First time here in the summer enjoyed sitting by the water. The drinks and appetizers were delicious. The Dickens festival is a lot of fun in the winter.
The Danford is a great hotel located right at the heart of Port Jefferson. It overlooks the marina and has a bunch of restaurants, small shops/boutiques and plenty of pastry and ice cream shops nearby. Can’t forget the brewery in town as well. The rooms are decorated great and the overall comfort is 4/5. There were definitely some issues with the overall condition of the hotel; nothing that would stop us from staying but The Danford really needs to step up its maintenance game a bit. This isn’t a $200/night hotel. As I said, this hotel is great and we would stay again but they need to polish and do some maintenance work to bring this hotel up to 5/5.
Paid almost $1,700 for 3 night stay. First night: police and management at our door saying they were getting complaints about our barking dogs. We didn't have dogs with us, nor do we own dogs. Turns out the room next to ours had 3 dogs in it, 2 of which were very large. Next night at 1:00 a.m., guests in room next to us came back and proceeded to talk very loudly and slam the door over and over and over, waking us up. Next night, same group of people came back to room at 12:30 a.m. and yelled and partied until 1:30-2:00 a.m. They put us in a room next to a large group that were part of a wedding. Why would you do that, Danfords??? Bedroom was fine, except for large stains on carpet (I'm sure it could be cleaned if someone cared); bathroom was a real hodge podge of old and kind of updated. Loose floor tiles, chipped shower tiles, toilet seat on crooked. It doesn't take any longer to put a toilet seat on straight than crooked. Stained ceiling due to water leaks. Not impressed at all.
This was such a classic place to stay. The staff is friendly and real. The property has as much charm as the rest of Port Jefferson. The weekend we were there had live music afternoon to evening! I didn't give 5 stars for two reasons. They had a wedding ceremony in the middle of the alley that blocked access to ours and other guests room. It was only 45 minutes, but didn't seem well thought out. The other is the parking. Valet staff is apparently for private parties, but they don't provide proper information to guests. Ignore them. Go inside, check in and collect your parking pass, then park. Or if you see a spot, park first, then check in and get your pass. The spots are metered, but check in should go fast enough to not have to pay for even a few minutes. Otherwise I would highly recommend a stay here. We went on line to book the same weekend next year but the scheduling didn't go out past a year.
Just had the time of my life staying at this lovely hotel by the Marina. If you ever get the chance to stay here, you better take that chance. Lauren at the front desk went above and beyond the entire weekend to make sure we were taken care of. She is the queen of customer service. Truly a next level experience. Danfords. Do it.
We held our hotel block for our wedding at Danfords and it was perfect. The Sales team is top notch, answering all our questions quickly & efficiently, helping us as we needed to increase the room block multiple times & navigate terrible weather the day of our wedding. They helped make what could have been a very stressful and sad experience an incredible one by offering suggestions for indoor photos, helping us choose which suites to book for our party sizes, and providing us with everything we needed for getting ready including extra tables, chairs & champagne glasses. I specifically want to call out Samara, Deborah, Mikaela, & Gabby for being INCREDIBLE to work with and making our weekend so special for us and our guests. We can't thank you all enough!!!
We were told there was a 20 minute wait and only 3 tables were seated. An hour and 30 minutes later we get called for our table. We had already eaten at the bar. The bar staff was excellent. Upper management did not have enough cooks in the kitchen causing a significant stagger in seating and delay in receiving food. The menu was extremely basic for such a nice establishment. I ordered a hamburger which was good and the catchup for the fries was served in a small plastic cup like McDonalds. The salad with chicken was the size of a side salad. Actually the side salads at a diner are bigger. This will be the last time we come here.
Decided to check out Danford’s with my girlfriend for our second anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised. The dining area was welcoming, giving us a nice view of the water. The food was alright, definitely a bit overpriced, but the highlight of the experience was the service. Our server Natalie was amazing, ensuring we had everything we could possibly want or need. She was a constant friendly smile, joking and laughing with us until we walked out the door.
The park has been updated in the past few years along with the entire town. There are new coffee cafe's, restaurants and things to do in town. Being a resident of BT/PJ over the past few years has been one of the most pleasurable experiences of my li
