The Dahlia Garden in Golden Gate Park was adorned with a stunning variety of dahlia flowers. It was a delight to witness these vibrant blooms in full blossom from late summer through fall., and the colors were simply mesmerizing. The well-maintained grassy sitting area by the garden is a perfect spot for a peaceful picnic. The serene surroundings and the captivating presence of the dahlias create a serene and picturesque setting that's ideal for relaxation and enjoyment.
A beautiful but small garden inside the park. It was a nice walk to get there by the greenhouse. They have some info about the different shapes of the flowers which was nice to read about. Unfortunately not large enough to walk inside as was my impression. Walking around takes a couple of minutes. Went in early October yet many flowers were still in bloom. Workers were tending to the flowers as well.
The dahlias just started to bloom (early to mid July). Spoke with one the volunteers who said that some of the varieties will bloom through October! Definitely worth checking out the official flower of San Francisco if you’re in the area. It’s right at the start of the JFK Promenade by the Conservatory of Flowers. Many other sights in the park are nearby such as the De Young, Academy of Sciences, Japanese Tea Garden, Botanical Gardens and Stowe Lake. Love the park and all the great things that it offers for locals and visitors.
There are such huge varieties of Dahlia flowers. Wonderful experience here. Well-care and friendly staffs. There will have Dahlia show and competition on August 19th and 20th. Definitely will come and join it.
The Dahlia garden is named after the Swedish botanist Andreas Dahl. This garden is very well kept and a very peaceful setting for a weekend stroll.
This garden was a lot bigger than what I expected. However, there aren't that many area with shades beside the bridge tunnel. The path were nice, the grass was very green, and the flowers were still not blooming. Really nice on a warmish day to look at flowers and to cool down. Enjoy your visit and wear sun screen!
The dahlia garden in full bloom never ceases to amaze. Thank you to the talented gardeners who work so hard to bring us the vibrant colors and varied shapes of this magnificent flower! I believe we can expect another show to peak this coming August/September.
The Golden Gate Park's Dalia garden is probably the best on the entire west coast. Oregon Gardens, Butchart, and even Luther Burbank have Dahlias, but San Francisco's is larger and more diverse than any of them. If you are patient, you can even snap a pic of a blossom with a bee, bumble bee, or green bee on it. Just remember not to pick any as it's a federal crime in Golden Gate park; that and they don't last long cut, anyway.
