I drove into Austin from Houston for the day and figured it was time to get some Cajun food so I stopped here. I'm sure glad I did. I ordered the Shrimp Poboy and a cup of Red Beans & Rice. I loved it all. The French bread was fresh, straight from Leidenheimer's Baking Co. in New Orleans. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the dressings were fresh and crisp. As far as the red beans & rice is concerned, it was perfect as well. The service was spot on as well. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and attentive. I felt very welcomed. I will be back.

If you’re looking for a cool small bar spot to hang out, grab a cocktail and some apps this spot is interesting. However if you want some New Orleans style food, I’d unfortunately say this is not it. We went there to try their gumbo, in that big hunt for the perfect Nola spot, and this place just did not deliver. Their gumbo gravy/broth had a flavor and texture of the powdered brown gravy mix packets. The ingredients came off as super bland. Overall it was a disappointment and something I’d never get there again. One positive was their apps and cocktails. I had the chicken tenders with honey mustard sauce which was definitely solid. Also ordered their old fashion which tasted great. This is mainly why I’d say apps and drinks are good but beyond that it’s not a place to go for a real meal. Hopefully they can iterate a bit more on their Nola recipes, up level them to meet the standards of that fantastic creole cuisine but until then I’d recommend skipping.

Been coming here a couple years with my husband and it’s our favorite Cajun rest in town! We love their Gumbo and amazing Po Boy’s sandwiches. The beers and drinks are also always on point. My only observation is that I don’t know why the lunch staff provides better service than other times at the day. We come pretty often here and been there in all shifts and definitely will always prefer going in at lunch. Otherwise, everything else is good and will always recommend to give it a try.

We eat here fairly often for dinner. The boudin balls are amazing as an appetizer. Recently went in for brunch. Yum!! We got both of the Benedict options and neither disappointed! Really tasty. And I ordered my poached eggs medium . . . They were PERFECT. Wow.

Great place for brunch, lunch or dinner! This Cajun loving Texas girl loves the food here. The gumbo is very good, The chicken fried steak is fork tender with the perfect amount of Andouille sausage gravy. I absolutely loved also, the pancakes with the pecans!

We came here for a quick bite, but it was definitely not quick. We were excited to try this place because it was packed, so packed we had to sit outside, which was fine. We ordered a coke to drink and was brought a Dr. Pepper. Which whatever. We waited awhile just for our orders to be taken, then almost 30 minutes for our appetizer. We ordered the crawfish eggrolls, were pretty good. Then, waited awhile more for our entrees. We get it, it's packed. However, honestly just wish we would have dipped after the appetizer. We ordered the Rattlesnack Pasta and the Crawfish Linguine. Both we're very bland with little to no flavor. Very disappointing for a Nola Inspired restaurant. Another customer stopped by our table on her way out and let us know that we we're missing out on the full experience because we weren't drinking. Who knows; maybe we were.

January 2024: A surprise while dining at Cypress Grill and enjoying our cajun cuisine where we were told they had king cakes from Joe Gambino's Bakery for sale. The cake was cold since it was from Louisiana, but after it thawed at home it tasted really good. This is the best king cake over ones sold in neighboring grocery stores. But in the meantime I enjoyed the fried catfish with dirty rice from the weekday lunch special. The catfish had tremendous flavor with a tasty breading and dipped it into the tartar sauce. The dirty rice was fulfilling and delightful too. The king cakes they had in stock were cinnamon and creme cheese. May 2023 Cypress Grill is one of my favorite Louisianan restaurants where all items on the menu is really good. It’s hidden in a small shopping center but the secret is out. Every time I return here it seems more people know about this place. They added outdoor patio seating to help serve more. Best is to arrive early for lunch and seems midday is good to in avoiding to wait. On this day, my wife and I took a seat at the bar. Its not very large but the bartender was excellent in making us feel welcomed. I ordered my usual Anita Amber and selected the Lunch Seafood Platter with crispy catfish and dirty rice. It included tarter sauce. The place has great casual ambiance where artwork hangs on the walls. My catfish arrived and being just a lunch item it had good presentation. The breading on the catfish was dry and had great flavor from the seasonings. I just broke a piece off and dipped into the tarter sauce. The lunch item on has three pieces which was good enough for me. The dirty rice was also good and complemented the catfish well.

I WISH THE FOOD WAS THIS GOOD IN LOUISIANA! I worked in louisiana for six months and the only thing that are easy to find in the baton rouge/new orleans area are alligators. Apparently the food was exported. This place has authentic cajun flavor in texas size dishes. They even had seasonal sides. The fried eggplant came with a creamy, cheesy, zingy sauce. I would come here just for this. The watermelon salad was refreshing. Shout out to the staff and owners of this establishment! The service was excellent, and we had food in front of us in 10 minutes. The menu has a great mix of staples and things off the beaten path. Definitely must try if you are in the area.
