Currier House - Featured Reviews (25)
If you like history. This place has it it is like walking into a nice antique store. And Jane is like a historian. I told her she should write a book . House has been in her family since civil war. Quaint town a lot of antique shops also nice boardwalk with light house. Enjoyed balcony stayed 2 nights Monday to Wednesday. The only thing Jane needs to do is update her rates it is posted as 95-115 dollars. It was actually 145 per night for during the week. This is not for everyone rooms are small
Owner Jane Currier has filled her Civil War era home with family heirlooms, furnishings and memorabilia detailing the colorful history of some of Havre de Grace's most famous citizens, including several generations of Curriers. She and her home are a local treasure, located only a block or so from some of the town's most visited attractions. We were able to stay only one night, but thoroughly enjoyed a great and full breakfast after a relaxing night's sleep in the Crawford Room, that featured its own private balcony. She and the staff made us feel totally at home and could not have been more gracious and accommodating, and her recommendations for enjoyable local activities and eating establishments were spot on. There could be no better way to learn about this charming, historic town at the edge of the Susquehanna Flats than a stay at Currier House!
I would give this inn a 3.5 if available. Not 3 stars fair not 4 stars very good. 3.5 good. Lots to look at antiques galore. Jane is a great host and quite the historian . I told her she needs to write a book.house has been in her family since civil war. Not for everyone. Rooms are small . Breakfast very good. Website prices are wrong online . It says 95- 135 dollars. It was 145 dollars per night for a Monday and Tuesday.
Stayed for two nights at Easter 2018. If half-points were here, I’d give Currier House a four-and-a-half; it is not a “five,” but it is better than a “four.”||||Short version: ||(1) The place was spotless, absolutely clean through-out; lots and lots of photos and old things on display as you might see in a museum, but nothing – absolutely NOTHING – dusty or musty. The place was spotlessly clean. ||(2) Breakfasts were good, homemade, nutritiously balanced, and plentiful. In addition, available in the dining area at any time of the day were juice, fruit, coffee/tea, and cartons of yogurt. ||(3) Location is excellent. It’s a one-block walk from the water and the light house. If you have a room with a balcony at the front of the house, you can watch the moon over the river. Very quiet area.||(4) B&B hostess is on site, knows the area exceptionally well, and will tell you anything you might ever want to know about Havre de Grace, past or present. Hostess was kind, gracious, and absolutely polite.||(5) Negatives: Guest rooms are small, and the mattress I experienced was quite firm. However, regarding the firm mattress, my solution for the second night was to fold a blanket under me. If you don’t like a firm mattress, ask the hostess for an extra blanket or two, fold them, and let them be your cushion on the firm mattress. The mattress was _not_ worn or old; rather, it was simply quite firm, and I do not like firm mattresses.||||Havre de Grace is just the neatest little historic town! In warm weather, this place would be perfect: Of the B&B’s in HdG, this place is closest to the water. It’s less than a two-block walk to the start of what the locals call “the Promenade,” which is the boardwalk along the river. At the same time, in warm weather, it’s just a quick few blocks walk to the historic downtown area of Havre de Grace. The house is located on what is called “The Lafayette Trail,” something of a historic walk thru and around Hdg.||||So, my recommendation is positive, but be prepared for a very firm mattress.
What a horrible horrible nasty woman that owns and runs this place. I have a wedding booked and paid for six months from now in Havre De Grace and I'm concerned about accommodations for my out of town guest. When I inquired about the rooms and rates, she practically scolded me for not just looking at her website for my answers. The website has not been updated since 2011. When I requested that I would like to purchase all four of her rooms, in a very nasty voice she informed me that she will not take that request until January 1st of next year. Confused by this and now concerned there will be a mad dash for rooms come January, I very politely asked her why she does not allow bookings until the 1st. In a very nasty voice she informed me that this is her business and she will run it how she chooses. I simply thanked her for her time and hung up the phone. Now even more confused and shocked, I am just happy I was able to get a taste of this person's personality and how she conducts business before I entrusted her with my guest.
For those of you shopping, I could not have had a better experience than with Carol from the Spencer Silver Mansion. Not only were the rates a little cheaper, the online pictures show much nicer rooms. I was also able to get all my questions answered and booked all four rooms with extremely friendly service.
Wife and I stayed one Friday evening while I was working in the area. The house is two blocks from the lighthouse. You can sit on the porch in the evening and see the lighthouse and an easy walk to the plank promenade. The marina and park are just around the corner and 1/4 mile. Again easy walking. The owner / operator is the most interesting part of the BnB. This has been in her family since the Civil War. The house was part of the underground railway. Documents found in the basement showed photographs of the inside of the house. Many of the antiques are in the place where they were in the photograph. The number of antiques was overwhelming for me. The owner is a decendent of the Currier of Currier & Ives. There are originals on the second floor. The rooms are small but remember the house was built in the 1700s. I arrived late and left early because of work, I didn't get to eat there. I did pick up a few homemade cookies which were excellent. If the owner ever decides to expand she should bake cookies. Wife ate at the BnB and was not impressed. In fairness to the owner, all the renters were there for a morning footrace at the near by park. Not much interest in a full breakfast before a half marathon. The location is perfect if coming by boat and docking at the marina at Tydings Park. I think it is the Tidewater Marina.
This would be 3.5 stars, if I could. Loved the house and the room with a balcony. The house is full of stories and so much to look at. It’s like a museum. And, the inkeepers, Jane and Sarah, are terrific. The breakfast included nothing homemade. Mediocre French toast with frozen blueberries and cheap store bought muffins. Yuck!
Fantastic B&B. Great location, beautiful house, and great views of the bay. Jane, the Innkeeper was a great host and very knowledgeable of the area and events. Breakfast was excellent every day. Check out Baysail at Tidewater marina for a great day sail trip. Will definitely return!
Wanted to get out to see some water on a beautiful day and made a spontaneous road trip. My son and dog were along for the ride, and we all enjoyed our visit. There was a garden event wrapping up, so visited some vendors. Parking was easy and free. B
A truly delightful charming B&B. We loved the decor and environment. We found it to be warm and welcoming. We received a text explaining what to expect upon arriving. A very thorough detailed letter was waiting upon arrival. Nice job.

We enjoyed the museum. It has parking close by. Bathrooms are across the street. It cost
$10 to visit. A small gift shop. You can have group tours. They have a elevator to use. It takes
about 1-2 to go thru the museum.
What a GEM. free parking, safe area. A great historic theater with a great sound system and decor. Very good drink prices as well. I have seen a number of bands there including CRACK THE SKY and Renee Ibenez. Ticket prices are reasonable. The town is
This is a perfect location if you like wide open green fields with a wide, asphalt walking track. It has quite a bit of convenient parking. It seems popular with people walking their dogs.
Frank's has amazing food at reasonable prices. We usually get the pizza but if we decide on something different then you can't go wrong with the MacDaddy sub or cheeseburger on Kaiser roll and my husband swears by getting the fish sub. The sauce you
We were visiting the area and we found this gem. The service was great, we got there an hour and half before they closed so it was pretty empty but oh boy it was a good experience. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, the chef was awesome, I u
My husband and I went with a friend here for dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was excellent. I ordered the salmon over a house salad and both were fresh and delicious. My husband got the chicken
