In a word, stunning! The mansion is impeccably decorated, with beautiful furnishings and art throughout- yet incredibly welcoming and comfortable. This was due to the charming host, Jason, who greeted us warmly and was gracious and friendly throughout our visit. The rooms were beautiful, and very comfortable. Eating a delicious home-cooked breakfast at the immense dining room table (under an equally immense crystal chandelier) was quite the experience! It was a memorable stay, and I hope to visit again soon!
Very historical. Full of beautiful antiques to match the home. Jason is a great host; amazing home-made breakfast and lots of handy tips. We had a great time, biking over into Indiana! Love to Bosco. We are already planning our return.
This is truly a gem of Louisville-- if you're looking for a place to stay, stop your search and just book it! The property is a treasure, lovingly cared for and located centrally to all Louisville has to offer. You can tell that Jason is proud of both Louisville and the home, making what could feel like an immense mansion feel like your home away from home. We had fun exploring not just the neighborhood but the house itself, which is full of fun treasures from days gone by. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the food delicious. We would not hesitate to stay here again on future visits to Louisville!
Such beautiful surroundings and such a considerate host (Jason), pertaining to little thoughtful things and big thoughtful things. I appreciated the nightlight in the bathroom drawer, to light the way. I appreciated the USB port as well as the outlets on the nightstand, to help me charge all those devices I travel with. And I most appreciated that Jason moved me to a bigger, classier room ("the President") than the one I'd originally booked, without any charge. He was concerned about heightened airplane noise, with the low-hanging clouds on a rainy night. This gleaming mansion and its furnishings and big windows truly create a palatial effect. Marble even in the bathrooms. The next morning, assume that there will be a lavish breakfast in an astonishingly gracious dining room. I beheld a fruit cup, 7Up pound cake that made me want to look up recipes, and home cooked French toast with bacon. I had landed in a land of Oz.
We needed a place for a Saturday overnight in Louisville and were tired of the hit and miss with hotel/motel quality. So glad we tried out this mansion. Jason was a great host, and answered all our questions and provided suggestions for places to eat and visit. He even let us park in the driveway if the street was full, even though it would block him in.
As others have noted, the interior of the mansion is historic, with a wide variety of architectural features. In addition, the owners have spent years in filling the place with period pieces and antiques. There was so much to look at in every room.
We enjoyed the neighborhood, and did a walking tour of many of the streets nearby, taking tons of photos. Jason recommended St. James Court, a few blocks away, and that was just amazing.
We used the "Louisville Room" located on the 3rd floor, with an en-suite bathroom. It was spacious and comfortable for the two of us for the night.
We enjoyed the magnificent dining room setting and having our breakfast cooked for us in the morning. It is not often a person gets treated like the rich and famous and gets served!! That was a treat.
If we find ourselves in Louisville again, we would see if there is a room available.
I regret there was not enough time for a more thorough tour of the interior. Perhaps next time.
My Mom and I had a show to see at the Brown Theatre in Louisville and while looking for a place to stay overnight, we remembered back to a tour we took of Louisville earlier this year and remembered there were beautiful Bed and Breakfast's in Old Louisville, that we had wanted to stay in "some day". So we looked at all the reviews on TripAdvisor and when we came to The Samuel Culbertson Mansion, we knew we found "the one". We were not disappointed in the least...in fact it was quite the opposite! What a beautiful house from top to bottom! Jason is such a nice person (who can make some awesome biscuits and gravy!)...we had some great conversations! Rudy is also a super nice and gracious host! Oh and the "new addition" Fergie is the sweetest little pup! We stayed in the East Room and it is so lovely! Jason also gave us free reign to explore the rest of the house....so beautiful! We hadn't even check out yet when we were already trying to figure out when we could come and stay again. I would definitely recommend staying here!
We were in the Little Colonel room on 3rd floor, it was spacious & beautifully decorated. We enjoyed pictures on the walls & the windows which had views of old homes.Rudy Van Meter, owner & innkeeper made us feel welcome & shared information about the home & contents. I toured three floors full of antiques & saw things I missed every time I went through the home again. The dinning room table was beautifully set & food for breakfast was delicious. We had a different menu every day.( We stayed for 4 days.) Jason cooked, served & told us about the room & furnishings, as did Rudy. They are special people as well as Maggie the dog. You can feel the love they have for the mansion. I had the privilege of talking to Rudy for over an hour one day & learned so much from him about Louisville, himself, 7 his beloved home & collections. we have already made reservations for next year. Jason was a great host and cooked a great breakfast. Beautiful decor and comfortable bed.
Allen warmly greeted us at the door, immediately creating a welcoming atmosphere. The mansion itself is stunning, and every aspect of our stay was carefully considered. Each space is not only inviting but also well-appointed and spotless. We chose th
Beautiful home on an amazing street filled with historic houses, close to amazing places to eat dinner. The rooms are gigantic and full of character. If you need a place to stay in Louisville look no further than DuPont!
A family obligation brought my partner and me to Louisville during the snowiest part of January, but because we had the great fortune to stay at Tucker House, what might have been an ordeal turned out to be a wonderful, magical experience that neithe
