Cuivre River State Park Campground - Campground in Troy - Midway Dr, USA

We reserved three campsites for 13 of us, one with a camper with electrical hookup, and two basic campsites. The sites were all clean with a level spot for the tent, fire pit, and beautiful fall scenery with the leaves changing colors all around us. There is lots of wildlife around, and we had a couple of great hikes down to the lake and along other trails. The bathroom and shower facilities are fully operational and clean.

We had a very disappointing stay and ended up actually leaving a night early. We turned in for an early night and gave up because the wood they sold at the campground wouldn’t even light or catch on fire. We bought four bundles from them and none of the bundles would even light. We needed it for warmth, cooking, and to help keep creatures away (we had a fun raccoon friend get buddy-buddy with us). Then after quiet hours, the people across from us were so loud until 1 am. Campground hosts did nothing about this and made it very hard to even sleep. After waking up and trying to give the wood one more shot, we decided it wasn’t worth staying any longer. We had already spent a decent amount of money on wood that wouldn’t light and didn’t want to go spend more at Walmart or somewhere else. We went around the same time last year & had the SAME problem with the wood sold at the campground. We thought it might’ve been resolved a whole year later. Be warned if you’re to go camping here to bring your own wood. Shouldn’t be selling it if it doesn’t even work.

Nice campground with full hooks ups. Some are pretty tight to get into, especially with other vehicles around on side of the road.

This was my 3rd time here and all I can say is bravo!!!! Clean quiet and friendly best of all no mosquitoes!!!!

An hour out of St. Louis, we used the RV campground as a stopover to gain an early start to Gateway Arch National Park. For being close to the highway on the map, it’s tucked way back in the park on a tight forested winding road. No trouble navigating, but not what we expected. Parking was a bit challenging since the spots are straight back ins instead of angled with poles and neighbor trucks in close and inconvenient positions. Flush toilets, no showers.

Be sure to grab a map from the visitors center. |There are numerous trails that connect. You need to make sure you follow the color code of the trail or you will get lost and need to ask for help from the Park Ranger. I would definitely encourage you to wear bug spray. Little ticks were abundant and we pulled several off each of us. The Old Schoolhouse Trail was a moderately difficult unpaved trail and had many things to step over and around. Some parts were narrow. The grasses were higher and we wished we would have worn longer socks. My 4 - 15 year old all enjoyed this trail but it was one of the longer ones. There was a beautiful lake to walk around. Some people were fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding on it. There was a small beach area at the end of this lake but you must make reservations to get a parking spot. There is camping available. We also saw some people near a creek playing. There were grills near the bathroom we visited. Bring your own hand sanitizer as there is no running water.

Our first time at Cuivre River State Park Campgrounds was memorable! We have a travel trailer and stayed at site 100 (electric/water/sewer), which was an end site with wooded area on two sides of us. Campgrounds close to non-registered campers from 10pm-6am with a locked gate, accessible by key-pad to campers.||||The park is adequately maintained; not as clean/tidy as other SP we have stayed at. Quiet, family and pet friendly. Minimal traffic on roads through camp sites. Walkers, bikers, kids, etc. could enjoy without much worry. There are 13 hiking trails, with two of those accessible right from the full hook-up loop and just steps from site 100. Miles and miles to enjoy!||||Campground had kayak/canoe/paddle board rentals available at the check-in station/small general store, which was a short bike ride from site 100. Beach front on lake for seasonal swimming. Fishing areas on other areas is the lake, but not allowed at beach front.||||Visitor Center/Park Office had a nice exhibit room that highlighted the history of the SP and how the CCC was responsible for its' creation.||||Four negatives: 1) No showrhouse in full hook-up loop; just restrooms. 2) Grill rack on fire pit was broken. 3) Many large downed trees on Lone Spring Trail required us to stray from trail to maneuver around. 4) Very narrow, windy road within SP with no shoulder.||||Thank you Missouri State Parks for another lovely weekend!

We love Cuivre River State Park so decided to try out some camping at the campground. The campground was clean and well maintained. Sites are well marked, though some are pretty close together. The campsites have a picnic table, fire ring, and later post. Our spot had plenty of level ground for our tent. Staff was friendly and helpful. We weren't too far from the main bathhouse, so we used it often and always found it clean. ||||There's a small playground, three trailheads accessible from within the campground, and the beach area to Lake Lincoln is close by. The check station also rents canoes and kayaks for the lake (at great prices too!). And you're close to everything else the State Park offers. We'll definitely be back!
