Crystal Lodge Motel Hotel - Featured Reviews (153)
This is a cute and quaint historic hotel. The rooms have been recently remodeled and although they are small they are comfortable. The bed was comfy and the shower was great. Location is off the beaten path but quiet. It is not walkable to anything but we would definitely stay here again.
We're always a nervous with the small motel, but this place was well cared for, and very clean and modernized - especially on the inside. We had a wonderful time at this boutique-style motel. The clientele seemed pleasant and the sleep was deep! I will return. A great value, and friendly manager, Neil. Thank you!
Let me start with the good:|Extremely friendly staff! Caylnn helped me with a question I had online and TJ helped during check in and also a few hours prior. He's very nice!|You can't just walk into the front office. There's a bell to ring, but they answer quickly. Check in was very easy.|Also, this appears to be quite an old motel, but clearly they've done renovations. Nice flooring and tile work in kitchens and restroom. Having a full refrigerator and a microwave was definitely good.|The proximity to downtown Main St. and the fairgrounds was our motivation to stay, and one of the cheapest options available at the last minute.||Now, my honest critique and I will include pictures.|If you have a street facing room you are almost right at the street. Being a main street I expected A LOT of road noise. It wasn't awful. Only a few times I can remember specific noise. |I wish there was more than one lock on the door, but that's just my preference. |I was shocked (in a good way) entering the room. More updated than I expected. If the outside could match that would be great.|The beds are a little too soft for me, but they served their purpose. It worked fine for us and our 2 kids. |The bathroom was actually quite nice. There were a few dead knats stuck to the ceiling above the shower. I know it's high but still should remove.|When my kids took their shoes off they just walked around in their socks until they jumped on the bed to play and read. I was searching for breakfast places and glanced over and the bottom of one of their feet were BLACK. Actually both, one just worse than the other. |I peeked under the sink and there were pans for cooking. |Yes, a gas stove, too. Time to update the pans though.||So there it is. I WANT to say I reccomend this place, but seeing my girls socks made me question the true cleanliness of the room and I just can't, but perhaps your experience will be different. Again, great staff and great LOOKING rooms, but asking just shy of $300 for one night is a big no.
Little hotel was fantastic very clean very cozy. Nice beds, comfortable comfortable, comfortable quiet no Riff Raff and the hotel manager. Neil was very, very accommodating and friendly and kind. Highly recommend him. Great location off of Main Street in Ventura, close to all the shops and the restaurants and the beach and the pier and close to Oxnard and close to taking a drive further up north to Santa Barbara, close to all the antique stores and thrift shops in Ventura and Oxnard and the weather was beautiful, we came from the area that we live 175° weather it was fantastic. Great car show on Main Street for July 4 with booze and festivities families. It was wonderful.
Giving this a 2.5 rating (and I think that's generous)
Each room must be different because after reading reviews I was confused.
Pros: Room was clean, bed was comfortable, service was friendly and helpful, cost was cheap.
Cons: Room was outdated, keurig coffee machine didn't match the complimentary coffee packet, the coffee supplies looked old and not replaced in weeks possibly months, towels were cheap and had holes, molding was separating and swollen, the bathroom smelled of mold, the shower switched between hot and cold, the neighbors were loud, insufficient parking, the TV didn't match the guide, the room description said kitchenette and yet there was only a microwave and mini fridge on a shelf that looked like it should be a closet.
Overall, you get what you paid for. Definitely would not recommend.
The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because it’s a mile from the beach and walking distance to Ventura County Fairgrounds.. I promise you the pictures on display aren’t even close to what you will expect. They are Photo-shopped and takes by a photographer. It even says it on some of the pictures.| As we approached this motel I honestly thought it was a mistake. It looked like a crack hotel. Apon check in the owner told me he would let the extra fee ( on top of $450 ) slide for 4 people. Seriously? I booked a “family Suite. My booking on Trip Advisor had 2 people. Note: I immediately called after booking the room to tell them of the mistake and that there were actually 4 of us and I could not change it online. I wanted to make sure we got this actual room. We were here for XGames family vacation. He told us on the phone not to worry. No Problem. | Our “ family room” which consisted of a small kitchen area, shoving in an extra bed, 2 over sized office chairs that looked like they were from a dumpster and a mis- matched table. It was literally one of the most run down dumps I’ve ever stayed in. The sheets were worn down and had stains on them. The towels were also well worn and looked like rags. Cheap soap and shampoo. | Again, this motel that is worse than a Motel 6 was $450 per night!! I recently stayed at The Crown Plaza Hotel in Manhattan NYC for just 50 more than this room. At the very least they can be honest and realistic with uncensored pictures. If you are going to charge people these prices you’d expect clean sheets with no stains, nice towels, and possibly a nice small dining table and chairs.
Don't understand the positive reviews. The weekly price was good. Definitely a budget hotel. We were in room 201, above the office. Lots of street noise, starting around 0630, woke me up every day. No, you can't switch to a different room, the manager said. You have a weekly room, as if that explained things. He was very unfriendly.
The heating did not work, so we used the stove to heat the room. Not safe, but there were so many drafts that the carbon monoxide was blown swiftly away. 3/4 inch gap at the bottom of the door let in a cold draft. I stuffed it with a mat I bought at Aldis. Large stains on rug and sofa. The sofa was so uncomfortable that we didn't use it. Full kitchen as advertised, but no cups, plates, cutlery, or pots, just a small frying pan. Weird. The neighbors were quiet at night. A lot of them live there, just a small step from homelessness. The neighborhood is marginal, not too threatening, but not attractive.
We had two full size refrigerators in the unit. Only one was working, the other smelled bad.
I would not stay here again.
We have to look at it from a contextual point of view. The Crystal Lodge is a motel on the old Highway 1 in Ventura. It is decently located and we had a great bed (comfortable), working and renovated showers, friendly staff but. We only asked for cleaning once during our multi day stay (you have to advise a day in advance) and neither were the lines changed (after 4 days), nor the floor cleaned. Coffee etc was refilled. It would deserve a bit of love (get hangers which are quality not the free ones you get in the store. Get a vending machine. The cleaning was really off putting to us.
I've had the pleasure of being part of an incredible gym experience, and I can't help but express my gratitude for the fantastic atmosphere it provides. The coaching team goes above and beyond in ensuring proper form and technique, making the whole j
Awesome customer service! Diego was great and set me up in the store with a mask/snorkel combo for my cousin who is moving to Hawaii. Worked within my budget to get two good products but didnât try to upsell me. Would recommend this place to anyone
