Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter, an IHG Hotel - Featured Reviews (5876)
We have been to New Orleans a total of three times. I can recommend this hotel as more superior than the 5 star hotel in the business district across the street.
Easy proximity to the heart of the French Quarter and easy accessibility via the trolley to the cemetery and entertainment district.
Rooms were clean and had central AC. Lobby smelled like wax was recently placed and clean. Friendly staff in front desk. Extremely friendly lady that attends guest in breakfast. Carpets were clean.
If any recommendation, it will be updating the shower heads.
Amazing location. Typically I get a great room but was just in for my birthday for a night so we weren't planning on spending much time here. This can't be a 4 star hotel though. The decor is dated but not a huge issue for a 3 star hotel. If you've been to NO or anywhere with humidity mildew smell is the thing so that didn't bother me. It was the beds, they seemed all original. Had the worst nights sleep. Maybe we should have upgraded but no sleep after a long day off drinking and walking was not fun.
I appreciate that the hotel was a great value for the location along a central street car line, and next door to Bourbon Street, and not too far from wonderful food venues. The room was simple but nice. ||Kudos to the staff they were warm, welcoming and provided excellent service. I’m especially thankful that they went through great lengths to ensure that my mistakenly discarded passport was returned to me. Definitely will consider staying here the next time I’m in town.
This place was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We walked into the hotel and were immediately impressed by the fancy decor, but a closer look shows many defects in the hotel. We got our keycards quick, seeing as we were a large group, but when we entered the room the smell was terrible. It smelled like an old lady died and a cat peed everywhere. Looking closer at the room there was a moldy vent in the bathroom that provided no ventilation, mold in the shower and on the floors, AC that showed the wrong temperature at all times, broken wall outlets, windows that have clearly never been clean, along with a broken mirror. For some reason the closet had 5 different safes, all locked, without a known password. The air vent is not properly attached to the wall and one side can be pulled off revealing the heating and cooling system that is collecting dust from 1776. The room service was rude upon asking for more towels, because they only gave us one or two even though 4 people were clearly staying in the room. Upon looking at other reviews we spent a few minutes every morning hiding our stuff because apparently the room service workers are thieves. They closed the pool super early every night which was difficult seeing as our activities lasted all day and into the night. On our first night a garbage truck ran into the side of the building causing the fire alarm to go off. The fire alarm sounded like a screaming woman and terrified all of us, we almost crapped our pants. We are absolutely traumatized witnessing the over 200 people hysterically flooding the stairwell in insane outfits. One lady was wearing booty shorts in cheetah print and that image will never leave me mind. This is not necessarily the hotels fault but I may need therapy. And the alarm didn't specific what was going on, that it was just an emergency, causing even more confusion and chaos. Even after we got the all clear to go back to our rooms, the alarm went off for 15 more minutes. People forgot their keys in the mass hysteria and the service desk was unhelpful. Another note was the view from our window was horrendous. We were on the 7th floor and overlooked the building beside ours roof and it was ugly. The curtains spanned the whole wall, however the window took up maybe a 4th of the wall and the rest was blank wall covered by a curtain. This was immeasurably disappointing as we wished to look down on Bourbon street at night. The pillows were stiff and smelled like fresh cat pee, I doubt they ever cleaned the sheets, just remade the bed. The mattress was uncomfortable and I doubt the sprinklers in our room would have worked in the event of a real fire because they we're rusted over and basically falling off the wall. A picture covered a hole in the wall, and the picture frame had gum stuck to it, further proving the do not clean their rooms. Luckily we didn't find any cameras and the mirror wasn't two way. This stay haunts my nightmares and every waking moment. Do yourself a massive favor and never come within 5 blocks of this hotel. Avoid at all costs!!!
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Despite being located in the city, there is no noise from outside, which is impressive. The hotel is right at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Canal Street, making it super convenient for almost everything. Be aware that there is a hefty deposit required to stay, but it is returned after checking out. We did find that the towels were not clean and had to request new ones. All in all, aside from the deposit and the unclean towels, we had a great stay. Highly recommend it.
This location is great so convenient Bourbon Street is right next-door public transportation is right across the street convenience stores and liquor stores are close by. It’s in the heart of everything. My family stayed almost a week. The staff was very helpful and kind to us. They almost felt like family from the concierge Eric, The tour agent Keith, the manager Gabby, even the security guard Contina. Although the hotel is a little outdated and can use some serious upgrades in some areas . Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I will consider rooming with them again
Bed was very comfortable. The upgraded rooms are so nice. This hotel is so convenient to all the bars and restaurants. I really enjoyed myself. The staff were very nice. Byron was so helpful when we had any issues. Will come back very soon. Thanks so much.
I was in New Orleans from 8/1-8/5 and I returned to the Plaza where I had not been in 16 years, since having working for a company who hosted a conference at the property. I must admit, I was NOT looking forward to staying here for my birthday weekend trip after reading so many terrible reviews. Thankfully, my experience was great. Just a few issues with the room, the sink drained slowly, but using the opposite end of a makeup brush removed the hair scrunchie and lime that was in the sink. Also, the shower rod was not flushed to the wall, but not a big deal. If I had called the front desk that would have taken care of both. I traveled with my 6 year old, who absolutely loved the rooftop pool. The streetcar picked up and dropped off right outside of the hotel. Towels were there, the front desk at check-in were very hospitable and throughout the stay. My room was clean and comfortable. Air was working fine. The housekeeper didn't replace toilet tissue and facial tissues, but I went to the front desk and the young lady gave me a roll. Overall, perfect location and nice stay. My son wants to return the next time we are in NOLA!
