Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Kansas City - 1301 Wyandotte St, USA

Staff is very nice and the breakfast is worth adding as a package, very good food. Also the bar restaurant was very nice and they had kid options. The room was clean and the suit we had was very large. However, it did smell a bit like old food, and it needed airing out. There are a lot of parkin spaces, but once in try not to drive because if you come back late the parking garage could be full. Also, they need better access to the parking garage. Two elevators just didn't cut it. The elevators were packed, and it took almost 25 minutes before we could get on an elevator at the end of our stay. On a more positive note, it has a great location, and if you know what to expect, it is a good stay for the price.

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a conference at the convention center. Location is perfect because it was a 3 minute walk to the convention center. Room was nice and cold, bed was comfortable and the mini fridge was pretty big. The hotel lobby had a small store and they carry a lot of stuff. Another plus was the microwave you can use in the lobby. Reception desk employees were friendly and very helpful. The coffer shop has decent coffee and reasonable price. Would stay again if in KC again.

This luxurious downtown hotel was amazing. The staff was very accommodating and friendly! There is a 24 hour marketplace for daily essentials and snacks. The breakfast buffet was great. The dining area was clean and tidy. The food was great for a breakfast buffet. There are plenty of spots to take family photos inside the hotel for memories. The coffee shop in the lobby has amazing coffee. This hotel has it all in the heart of downtown Kansas City!

Room was nice, clean, comfy bed, good location. Sadly, that was all negated by the rest of our experience. I am an extremely light sleeper and make sure to request before and at check in for a quiet room. So a week before, I filled out the online form and chose Away From Elevator. When we checked in at 5pm, I made a point to ask the desk agent if our room was away from the elevator like I requested ahead and nicely explained my noise issue. She happily assured me that it was away from the elevator. So we go up to our room. It is RIGHT ACROSS FROM THE ELEVATOR. Had we not been in a hurry to get to a dinner reservation, I would have gone down and ask to be moved. It was only for one night anyway. But you can't tell me that in all of the 28 floors that there wasn't ONE other room away from an elevator?? And the fact that she lied right to my face and didn't care?? Not okay. So I got exactly 3 hours of sleep. In addition to the whirling of the elevator going up and down until about 2am, I also had to listen to super loud cars racing up and down the street (which our room faced). It sounded like they were filming FATF out there until about 4am. SO loud. That is not under their control, but there are rooms that don't face the street. So if you need a quiet room here, good luck. I'm sure they have them (and ones that don't face the street), but you probably won't get one if you request it. Next time we will try somewhere else downtown.

Hotel was nice. Staff were amazing. There was a complimentary bus shuttle offered by the Crowne Plaza to take residents within a few mile radius. The gentlemen driving was named Darryl. He truly made the entire stay at the hotel special. As he dropped off people to their destinations, he gave a tour of the city that I will remember for the rest of my life. He was kind, loving, compassionate, enthusiastic and filled with life experiences that he was generous enough to share. I wish the world was filled with more people like him. I am grateful for the time we spent together and commend the Crowne Plaza for supporting this brand ambassador. Overall --- 6/5 stars!!! Extra star goes to Darryl!

Description on the internet DID NOT MATCH the interior of the actual room. We even had a suite. The furniture, especially the couch, was so ran down that we wouldn’t even sit on it. It caved in the middle just standing there looking at it and had holes in it. The hall way carpet even looked gross. They also had less than desirable people hanging out on the opposite side of the hotel entrance. I called the front desk to tell them how I didn’t feel safe in this particular location and I felt like I had been scammed on the room due to the condition of it and they pretty much said “we can move you to another room just like it but sorry there’s nothing we can do”. I was very nice and couldn’t believe that even though I didn’t feel safe they were like “yeah sorry”. Good lesson learned!!!

Positive: The room was clean, well stocked. The pool, even though we didn't use it, looked clean and refreshing. Staff at front desk, as well as the coffee shop and restaurant were courteous and friendly Negative: The parking garage. I am sure most places downtown have smallish garages, but I was glad I drove a smaller SUV and not my truck. The stairwells were keycard access only, and half the time my card did not work with them.

Location and staff are good but the overall condition of everything beyond the main floor is dated (elevators, halls, rooms). In addition to being dated, our room was dirty and the bed was old (you could feel the springs in certain positions). When you’re paying $200 a night I expect the rooms to be clean. Location is super convenient for events at T-Mobile Center, but in the future we’ll just stay somewhere nicer and Uber.
