Nice place with reasonable DC prices. The downstairs and upstairs bars aren't always open, but the ground floor diner and bar are nice always. The rooftop isn't anything crazy as this is DC, but it's very pleasant. The downstairs bar has a nice vibe and sometimes does special events in the evenings.
Excited to try this spot since it says Southern Diner on the window. Only had a few items that are "Southern"
Here for brunch so stuck with only the breakfast menu. Decided on Shrimp and Grits and Salmon toast with a side of home fries. Pretty good. Decent portion.
Wanted to comeback for the bacon wrapped meatloaf and chicken and waffles until I saw the bill. Auto gratuity and tax and no free refills on coffee at a diner?
Since I stayed at the Motto Hotel for 5 nights, I visited this restaurant about three times. I love the atmosphere, it is casual and chic, and the server was polite and friendly, so I can relax and enjoy the food and moments with my friends here.
Not only is the atmosphere great, but the food is amazing! I love their blackened salmon! The salmon fillet is incredibly delicious and tasty. Its flesh is remarkably tender and offers a delightful culinary experience.
My mom and I were walking by, saw this restaurant and came in because of the Southern food. We had the Bacon wrapped Meatloaf and it was SO AMAZING!!! My mom said it was the best meatloaf she’s ever had- the mashed potatoes and carrots were so flavorful and buttery!!! Portions are Highly highly recommend. We had draft beer - very cold- just what we needed after walking and sightseeing. We had the apple crumble - all fantastic. Our server Lamek was super nice and polite.
Atmosphere is deceptively delightful, but good luck getting served. Sat at the bar for over 45 minutes and watched the bartender scroll his phone and do inventory. Just ended up leaving... Typical DC: double the price, half the service. Just go to Jack Rose instead for a great experience.
In town for Snalleygaster and stayed at the Motto. Crimson is their view bar on the roof, opening at 5pm. $10 Aslin Power Moves IPA and a glass of Zolo Sauvignon Blanc for $11 plus the mandatory 18% gratuity with tax = $27.26 for two standard drinks in (I believe) plastic cups is a bit off putting.
Don’t get me wrong, great view, if you’re in the hotel and need a quick night cap with a view, this will scratch the itch – but I will not be back, once was sufficient.
Photographed a great whiskey tasting event here. Staff was superb and the space was awesome. If you're in need of an event photographer feel free to contact me!
Love the casual atmosphere! Our server was polite and attentive. The food was good. The pickled deviled eggs were esthetically pleasing and delicious. I had never had them before, and was not disappointed.

We visited the restaurant with my wife, our friend and her children. A very stylish establishment almost in the center of Washington. Three huge beautiful halls, each of which is decorated in its own style. The food is very tasty, without exceptio

The food was amazing. I got the shakshuka and it was delicious and super fresh. The vegan cinnamon bun is also yum. The service was top tier - they were very nice and attentive. I will definitely be coming back here often!
