Incredible place, so essential to our local watershed, and full of vibrant life! A must see for anyone wanting a taste of the real Florida!
Beautiful trail, we saw a lot of alligators and a lot of birds. Take a bunch of water and be prepared. If you walk around the entire trail it's close to 13 miles.
I did the green loop hike from the Cypress Done trailhead.
There is a suggested donation of $3. There are no bathrooms others than a portapotty at the entrance. I did not have issues with mosquitoes, but this was in February.
While wooded, do not expect shade because pine flatwoods do not offer much. Saw lots of kites, hawks, and even a barred owl. Most of the green loop is dry, so I did not come across any alligator ponds.
It appears that people have been using some of the signs as target practice, which is a shame.
From the green loop i connected with the Caracara Prairie Preserve. I'll review that separately.
Great place, very quiet and serene. Went in the very beginning of Florida rainy season and totally didn't think about bug spray... you will need one! There were no other visitors while we were there so I let my well behaved dog of the leash and we all enjoyed a short loop. Highly recommend and definitely will be back. Bring bug spray and water! Well maintained and marked trails, lots of trees for shade and benches if u like to seat down to rest or observe some wild life.
Beautiful, walked 9 miles didn't do the whole 12. Maybe next time.
We walk are dog there everyday very beautiful great place to let your dog run free to get exercise lots of trails. Never busy
One of the best places in this area to enjoy nature
Nice hiking easy paths, it was very dry so that helped, read other reviews where it was very wet. We did not see much, one pair of hawks, some tracks but they also had a nice area to sit down a have a picnic if you wanted. If you are looking for more wildlife I would go to Big Cypress or Everglades
