We arrived and couldn't get either door open. We ended up having to wait until another patron came out in order to get in. Word of advice, pull hard. Once inside, we ordered the frickles, but, as another patron said, there were enough there for three or more people. They should offer a half order so as not to waste so many. We also ordered the red bean gumbo, which was excellent, and the grilled shrimp platter. The shrimp were in a blackened seasoning and were quite good. I know another patron said the shrimp could be locally sourced and therefore fresher, but I thought they tasted just fine with the seasoning. The hush puppies that came with my platter were awesome! I am not a hush puppy afficianado, by any means, but I am picky about them and I thought they were one of the best things on my plate and wish I had had a couple more. Our waitress was polite and checked on us often. She kept our drinks filled which is one of my husband's biggest basis for leaving a tip. Overall, I thought it was good for our first Louisiana Creole restaurant and would eat there again.
Got the fried seafood platter (Shrimp, Catfish, and Oysters for $27) with Onion Rings as the side dish and everything was delicious!
The shrimp and fish were cooked to perfection and the onion rings were thick cut and fresh.
Had the bread pudding for dessert and it was unique, with cherries and other fruit in it. Pretty sure there was some apple in there with a nice cinnamon taste.
We went for dinner on a Thursday night and were seated immediately. The service time was average and the waitress was friendly.
Would highly suggest coming here for good seafood and that hometown feel atmosphere.
More bread than shrimp on a po boy. But, it was good. Service was fantastic.
The atmosphere was grim. I can't speak for everyone but as I have gotten older my eyes aren't what they were 40yrs ago. I couldn't see the menu to order what I wanted. I just ordered the same as my son. Maybe some tables off to the side can have a small lamp to accommodate those who need it. js
We got there and there was only one other person at a table in the restaurant. The place filled up and several others got their food before us. We ordered the grilled pork chops. Took over an hour to arrive at the table. This is not the first time this has happened. We once had reservations at 5:30 and 7:00, still no food. They hadn't started our order yet. We had tickets for a 7:30 show and had to leave.
I truly enjoyed my first experience at the Creole House! Overall, the portion sizes were large. I’d recommend you try the roast beef cheddar fries and the red bean gumbo.
We were pleasantly surprised with the food. Weren't even sure if the place was open because how it looks on the outside.
We went in on a Monday and we're the only people in the restaurant & parking lot. Had a good time, the food /gumbo was excellent. Great place to stop
OMG they know how to fry oysters. The onion rings are done in house with a special dipping sauce that is to die for. Super friendly. A hidden gem!
Roast Beef Cheese Fries are yummy and plentiful! The Creole House (platter) is huge with a great assortment of seafood. You will enjoy and leave stuffed
