The treatment was good, but the way they handle the insurance is not so great. They wanted to blame my insurance for not covering the service when it was Cranial Technologies who said there was no review in the very beginning and then later didn’t provide the correct measurements to the insurance. There was continued back and forth going on for a long while. I finally got my reimbursement after 5 months. In the beginning they make it seem the band needs to be provided as soon as possible and the insurance will cover later down the road. They make it seem they have good communication with the insurance but it turns out they do not. Learn from my mistake and make sure everything is cleared with the insurance before going through with the service.

Should’ve come to the review prior to continuing with this company. Been with them a few months and we are either waiting 20-40 mins or I was 17mins late and they said my appointment was over. Driving 40 mins one way is just not worth it. We are seeing a little improvement in head shape but not convinced it’s really a necessity.

The helmet was great. But anything to do with their customer service sucks. They won’t even start the band until it’s paid in full. So if you choose to pay upfront then receive reimbursement once insurance goes through good luck getting your check. My insurance company sent them the check a month and a half ago. Still haven’t received my refund. Just talked to someone and they only send checks out at the end of the month. So now I’m stuck waiting another two weeks. Even though they received my insurance check 2-3 weeks ago. If there are any other helmet places around I would highly recommend that you use them due to this company having poor customer service. 10 out of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Beware - these people lied straight to our faces and billed us nearly double what they had initially told us even after speaking to our insurance, asking about our coverage and getting approval for the claim. We were told that the cash cost without insurance was around $4,000. Cranial Technologies talked to our insurance and quoted us $1,350 for the helmet. They then billed our insurance $6,000 and we ended up getting a bill for $2,280. There are other providers of these helmets in Salt Lake, so be sure to shop around for a more honest company.

My pediatrician recommended Cranial Technologies because they had the best reports of any place she's seen. I have taken two of my babies there and am pleased with their services. My first was 18 months and had severe brachycephaly. Many places wouldn't even accept him for treatment because he was so old but Cranial Technologies did which I was grateful. They were honest about the prognosis but after 6 months of helmet use he had progressed to the mild-moderate range. I was pleased with the progress he did make and only wish I had pushed to get him a referral for a helmet sooner. The second had moderate plagiocephaly due to torticollis. I had him evaluated at another clinic the pediatrician also liked and that his PT recommended and while the other clinic seemed nice and their evaluation measurements were within a millimeter of Cranial technologies, I ended up going with Cranial Technologies since they were the same distance from me, I liked their 3D camera's high-tech evaluation accuracy, the helmets are a little more ventilated than others, and my previous experience was positive. He got his helmet at 6 months after completing PT. He has just finished with his treatment after 4 months and his dad and I are very pleased with the progress. Both my children tolerated the helmet without any problems (the first would ask for me to put it back on if I forgot after the bath). While Cranial Technologies like any place isn't perfect, I would absolutely go to them again if needed and recommend them to others.

I have loved my experience here! The staff are so sweet, supportive and knowledgeable! They are very professional and my sons helmet experience was easy peasy, didn’t bother him at all, and because we started the process at 4 months old, his time in the helmet was greatly reduced! 10/10 recommended to a friend and the public!

The team is great (especially, Lin!). They make the process of getting a helmet easy and approachable. I felt confident that they wouldn’t recommend a helmet unless absolutely necessary and felt cared for through the whole process. The technicians are kind, knowledgable, and answered all my questions. Baby wasn’t bothered by the helmet at all. 10/10 have already recommended to friends 🤣

Plenty of pros and cons about this place. The staff is very kind and welcoming, though they are all nurses, not orthopedic specialists. I’m guessing they get a small training course from an orthopedic specialist, but I’ve never seen one on site. The weekly/biweekly adjustments to the helmet are all done with just a quick glance at the baby’s head and how the helmet is fitting, then the nurse goes back behind a closed door and takes their best guess at it and shaving a bit more away. This isn’t an extensively measured science going on like you’d expect. You’re questions aren’t going to get super clear answers either. You’ll get a basic answer that anyone who’s taken an anatomy and physiology course could tell you, but other than that they’ll try and brush it off or tell you you can find more research online. They give some pretty false advertising too. They’ll show you pictures of adorable babies with decorated helmets and say most never even realize it’s on. They actually just give you a plain white helmet and recommend you NOT send it in anywhere to get it looking cute. Our baby went from a 12hr/night perfect sleeper to waking up every 2-3 hours crying, yanking and clawing at the helmet for the entirety of the 10 weeks he had it. Don’t get me wrong, the process is much quicker than the traditional months and months of helmet wearing. It’s a painful one though. Don’t think you’re getting a perfect head either. Our baby’s major plagiocephaly issues were fairly well corrected (we wore the helmet 23hrs/day and followed instructions exactly). He ended up with other minor imperfections though. Poor attention to detail by the “clinicians” (aka nurses) caused minor imperfections on the sides of his head and overgrowth where there was previously less than before on his forehead. It’s close enough for us. No one would notice but myself and my husband hopefully, but it’s there. I’m not sure if I’d go this route again or not, I’m just glad it’s over. Like I said, pros: quick, cons: painful and not perfect. If you want the perfect head you’ll have to go with the traditional helmet.
