Cragmont Assembly - Indoor lodging in Black Mountain - 1233 N Fork Rd, USA

This is our new favorite, basic, inexpensive place to stay in Black Mountain. Just the basics-with a smile. Matthew & staff are smiling, wonderful people. We are frequently needing to stay one or two nights in Black Mountain due to a project and this is a perfect solution. They provide a coffee station in the main building along with a microwave and community frig. The grounds are wonderful for kids to run off energy or for a walk. The views are wonderful ⛰️🏔️🗻 No meal service for single rooms in off season, but we grabbed something in town. No elevator that I saw but first floor rooms were available. Note - for the price savings, guests are asked to strip beds and empty trash. Easy steps to get a room at half the price of something in town, in my opinion. 😉 I think this would be an economical way to host an extended family gathering. The reception area has tshirts and a few other items, along with hand made wooden bowls from a local artist. The front porch is big and welcoming with a line up of rocking chairs. I’ll post pictures on our next visit.

We needed last-minute, inexpensive lodging for two nights. Cragmont Assembly fit the bill. The setting is lovely. We stayed in the motel, which was very basic, but quite clean, and comfortable enough. Matthew was very kind - we were afraid we wouldn't make it there by 8 and he said he would be available to check us in if we couldn't (be sure to contact him ahead about that!) We ate breakfast there the first morning (again, be sure to arrange that ahead of time) and it was excellent. Everyone we ran into was happy and friendly. For a very small price, we had lodgings comparable to a budget motel, but cleaner and without the smoke smell, noise, and shady characters! We were very happy with our experience!

We love staying at Cragmont. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff makes every effort to meet every reasonable need. It is a very good location. We recommend this nice place to get away from the hustle bustle of every day. Enjoy!!

We were on Blueridge Parkway, and running late. They were so nice to wait for us. The room is very basic & clean. There are coffee, tea, hot water, microwave... etc in the main lobby. The view is very nice from the room. The location is not at the center of the town, but easy to find. Of course, they have the best price around whole area. Strongly recommend!

What a spectacular find! We stayed in the little motel portion and could not be more pleased. The room was basic, but very clean. We were given plenty of towels and check in was simple. We were able to sign out a small cooler and games. We felt like we had a summer camp all to ourselves. We relaxed in a large hammock under the trees, played on a great playground with ziplines, and hiked trails. There is a fire pit that you can request that they light for you, but the weather was too warm. A family of deer visited each night. 100% recommend Cragmont! We will be back next month when we rent the house.

The rooms are very clean. We love sitting on the front porch, talking to old friends and making new friends.The sweet spirit of the Lord is there!!! It is peaceful and restful at Cragmont.

I came here for a Wild at Heart BASIC men's retreat in August 2023 and I highly recommend Cragmont whole-heartedly. Its facilities is perfect for what I wanted and was looking for - a rustic, reasonably priced, clean, and well-stocked with amenities (all the basic stuff you need and expect from a rustic venue). It had a beautiful view in the front of their property with some small mountains and some sweet amenities from a shared dining hall, swings in the front to enjoy that view, hiking trails, various rooms to rent out / buildings, community fire pit, a rugged gym, volleyball court among other things. The cherry on top is their Executive Director, Matthew Daughtry-Grubbs. He is such a special, wonderful, capable man and runs a great organization at Cragmont. He is thoughtful, considerate, and makes sure to take care of his employees and keeps the property looking great. After staying at Cragmont for the WAH BASIC, I learned that their property hosts a variety of retreats / functions, as well as groups and of course single rooms for hikers / travelers. I have it in my heart to go up again next year, for a new retreat (BECOMING A KING EXPERIENCE (which is also through the Wild at Heart ministry)), which is a sort of next step from the WAH BASIC, which all the fellow guys that I did it with (that I had just met and are now all considered friends), intend to also go back! I even want to go back sometime with my wife to utilize a single room to make a local hiking trip out of it. If you are in the area (or not in the area... I mean, I came all the way up from western / central Florida!) please consider supporting this great place by visiting! You won't regret it.

Staying at Cragmont is the most Relaxing and spiritually enriched place you will ever stay. from the view off the front porch in the rocking chairs to the staff all is wonderful. anything you need Matthew and His staff go out of their way to ensure that you have it. For Our Church this year was the 2nd year we had a Winter Youth Retreat and stayed at Cragmont in the lodge and everyone that attended has loved staying at Cragmont. Not to mention also that the price is very economical. If your looking a restful place to stay on a vacation to the North Carolina Mountains or a stop over look no further than Cragmont Assemblies, A Relaxing and Christian atmosphere filled with the Love of Jesus everywhere.
