Maya you were great! Thank you! The decor and store were cute and had great items, the service was great and she keep the drinks coming without even asking, the food was hot when it got to our table and the flavors were spot on. Expect great service, nice atmosphere and plenty of southern fried options.

I'm not over exaggerating when I say that the food, service, and atmosphere of cracker barrel are all solid 10's. I've loved going here since I was a teenager, and it never disappoints me, unfortunately I haven't been since I left Texas 4 years ago, so this was like a little piece of heaven to me, the food was hearty and hit the spot, the servers were very friendly and attentive. I felt like I was home again, 100/100 would recommend and I will 1000% be coming back here!

I love coming here! This visit was actually pretty good because the service isn't always the best at this location however on the plus size it was not packed at all and that I enjoy.

All my scores are based on my comparison to my usual local diner, Spencer's Cafe on McNair Lane. Like my usual at Spencer's, I got the chicken fried chicken, hashbrowns and 2 sunny side up eggs with a side of biscuits and gravy, a.k.a. Grandpa's Breakfast ($15.99). They brought out the biscuits and gravy first, about 10 minutes before the other food came, giving the gravy time to cool. The chicken fried chicken portion was on the smaller side, but the batter was crispy and didn't fall off. The chicken was mostly juicy. The gravy portion on the chicken was lacking as well as the portion in the side. The texture of the biscuits were nice, a little smaller than Spencer's. They had a weird taste to them though, smokey maybe? The gravy had a smokey flavor to it. It might be the sausage they use. The gravy was also a little gritty, like raw flour. Maybe it wasn't dissolved/cooked through enough before adding the liquid. Their cheesy and onion hashbrowns are outside of the traditional plain. The said they had the plain available, but for $0.99 more. I went with the cheesy and onion. I was disappointed though. It was a weird texture and taste. In total, it came to $21.09 with tax for the Coke Zero and "Grandpa's Breakfast". With an 18% tip, $24.89 for 1 person. The service was good, but not as great as the service at Spencer's. In summary, the smaller portions, mediocre taste just wasn't worth it. The restaurant is along California Ave and the freeway, which seems to be a budding Skid Row with many homeless people wandering around. I'll stick with my usual. Spencer's comes in slightly more at $21.39 for the same dish/items, but the portions are bigger and the taste is much better.

Our family is so glad that Cracker Barrel is finally in CA. It's a good place for family dining. We love the gift shops and how they have the staple vintage items and candy but also rotate seasonal merchandise.

I purchased a whole pecan pie…the employee in charge of online orders couldn’t find my order, I was asked what name the order was under 3 times. I finally showed the order confirmation number, this made the wait time about 15-20 minutes, I wanted to pick it up and go. The pie is very delicious, but very thin! The filling minus the pecan topping is about a half inch thick. (making the pie about an inch thick combining the crust, gooey filling, and pecan topping) I was very disappointed considering the price I paid, $12.99.

Cracker barrel is one my preferred breakfast joints. The food is always fresh and delicious. Although I've tried their lunch and dinner, breakfast is always a first option for me here. They serve country style meals with big portions. Whatever meal you choose, I highly recommend their hash Brown casserole to accompany.

Great general store aside the restaurant. Amazing candy section. Well trained staff, courteous and polite. I had the (pictured) "Smoky Southern Grilled Chicken," it was meh. Bland, similar to a cafeteria or hospital. Because of its notoriety, I will try another dish later and give them another shot! Avoid the "hashbrown casserole."

Golden Bull under new ownership keeps the same flavors but also adds an exquisite Mexican twist to the menu! Just tasted the BEST Michelada I've ever had! Staff is much nicer and friendlier. Recommend the tacos al pastor. Menudo on the weekends.

Stopped for dinner in Bakersfield on our way to San Jose. We enjoyed some pupusas - shrimp for hubby & loroco (squash flower) for me. The chicken tamal was very fluffy and had more of a spongy texture. The plantain empanadas were very rich and creamy
