Cracker Barrel Old Country Store - American restaurant in Columbus - 1313 Hilliard Rome Rd E, USA

From the service to the food, I was blown away! The atmosphere is pretty neat too. I'm originally from Washington State and moved to Ohio for work, so I hadn't had a chance to experience Cracker Barrel. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed! I can't wait to come back to try the next dish!

I hadn’t been to a Cracker Barrel in years and after my recent visit, likely will not return. Myself and my two young children were seated fairly quickly with no wait. We were greeted by a waitress for almost 15 minutes. We ordered two appetizers and 3 meals. It took us nearly 40 minutes to get our meals and the were not hot, maybe slightly warmer than room temp. The food was also very messy looking, not appealing in the way it looks sloppily thrown on the plate. I asked about the appetizers and was told they’d be out “any minute”. Fifteen minutes into our meal, still no appetizers. I ask again and told the same thing. We never received them and they were just removed from our bill. We didn’t get asked about refills and when I asked for silverware I was brought one single fork….for 3 people ? 🤨 I was told the kitchen had only two cooks and that was why service was less than stellar but it doesn’t explain the lack of attentiveness from our server who seemed flustered and overworked. The restrooms were so gross. Urine all over the seats, trash on the floor and no toilet paper in at least two stalls.

I don't normally leave bad reviews (as you can see in my profile), but I'm super bummed. My 1st to-go order with them, & my premium side I upgraded to was out,,, I get it, it happens. I'm not frustrated by that. I'm frustrated they only gave me the one side they had... and didn't 1) tell me or 2) credit the $1.99 back & give me another regular side to fulfill the two my dinner rightfully came with. Super bummed, because let's face it the sides are the best part! To top it off I call back & I'm explaining rocket science to a call center (I think) that takes orders. They transferred me somewhere that rang I think for 5 straight minutes before disconnecting.

Dinner tonight was a very unpleasant experience. It was not overly crowded, we arrived around 5 pm, and were seated right away. We ordered from the breakfast menu. My meal was the worst. Eggs were overcooked, bacon was no where near chrispy and I got sour dough toast instead of rye. My friend had pancakes and eggs. His were eggs were overcooked too. He also ordered fried apples and reminded the server but the apples never came. It took an hour before the food came. No one checked on us in that hour. Again, it was not super busy. We had to ask for utensils, more coffee, and napkins. They took a good 10 minutes to get. I have been eating at Cracker Barrels since the early 90s. Just crossed them off the list of places to eat.

This is a staple place for me. No matter where I go the food is the same. Staff was nice and had to wait a bit for a table but it was a busy time. Gift shop is cool to walk through but not really my type of stuff to buy. I will say the old style soda and candy is a buy for me. Waitress was nice and came.to get drink order and I knew what I wanted. She came by a few more times after food was delivered and filled my drink. Overall a basic time there.

We dined at the 1313 Hilard Rome Road, Columbus, Ohio, location on Sunday afternoon. They were not busy today. We were seated right away. The food came out in about 15 minutes. We both had the chicken dinner with 2 sides and ice tea. The chicken was good. I had mashed potatoes and gravy with coleslaw. The potatoes were not warm, and the coleslaw left a bit to be desired. My wife had the hashbrown casserole and apples. Her potatoes were ice cold. We sent those back, and they just threw them in a microwave. We had to ask for refills and had to ask for dessert. The dessert was atrocious. My chocolate cake was actually a coke flavored chocolate cake. We didn't get our menus back. The waitress just told what they have. My wife had the cheesecake, and seriously, it was not much bigger than a silver dollar. We had to ask twice for a to go box. I think this server was having a really bad day, or she needs to be re-educated about what being a server is all about. Not to mention that our table was not clean as you can see in the pictures. We travel substantially, and we have not had very good luck with Cracker Barrel. I realize help is hard to find, but really? This is not what we used to experience with Cracker Barrel. It used to be good service and good hot food. Not so anymore. It is sad. I always like to give good feedback, but not in this case. The store and atmosphere in the restaurant were the best parts of our experience.

Cracker Barrell is always a good choice for consistent quality food at a fair price. The servers at this location tend to be very good. Always friendly and helpful. Our cashier Denise was very cheerful and attentive! My wife loves to shop the store to see the new seasonal items, which is a big plus for her!

I ordered take out and was greeted soon as I walked in. The to go specialist came right away and helped me. The whole process went smoother and easier than I thought it would. It only took 10 mins for my order to be ready and when we got it home and ate, it was even better than expected. I give everything a 10. Definitely recommend
