Cracker Barrel Old Country Store - American restaurant in Elizabethtown - 1047 Executive Dr, USA

Food was terrible. Green beans were way over cooked to the point they were turning black. Fish which is normally good was stiff and difficult to cut even with a knife. Manager changed out entire meal but replacement was almost as bad and food was cold. Our waitresses took our order and it was the last time she check on things until she presented the check bill. Entire area including tables were dirty, food and trash all over floor. Bathroom was dirty and needed attention. The only good part of the visit was paying the bill. Cashier grimmanced when shown pictures of our food. Especially the green beans. She apologized and gave us 30% off. While that was appreciated the fact we didn't eat the majority of the meal and the problems with the meal they should have offered at least one meal free. But 30% is better than none. Cracker Barrel use to be a good place to eat. Now days with the constant menu change, lack of empathy for the customer when things go south and being over priced along with the food not being close to satisfactory, for me, it's time to drop cracker barrel from my choices of places to eat out.

I had a great experience at this Cracker Barrel in Elizabethtown, KY. When I arrived there was a group of servers at the front awaiting guests. My server asked me if I had a drink preference she could get started before a different server walked me to my seat. I was promptly given a menu, my drink (coffee and water), and asked if I already knew what I wanted or needed some time. This did not feel like a rush to me, rather an intuitive approach to serving me better. I took a few minutes and she was right back with me to take my order. I ordered chicken and dumplings with two sides (possibly the cheapest order). I got green beans, collared greens and corn muffins. The food didn’t take long to arrive. Soon afterwards the server asked if I needed anything and I asked for hot sauce and vinegar (for the collared greens). All tasted good. The green beans were a little over steamed or cooked as they were very soft. Chicken and dumplings will never be like Mama made at home, but these are a Cracker Barrel staple and are pretty good. The server was consistently checking on me and refilling my drinks. I was very satisfied with the service overall. And as I said, the chicken and dumplings were the cheapest meal I could find on the menu - $8.99 for the dish with two sides.

The food was phenomenal, the amount of time I had to wait for the food after ordering [online] was appropriate. The only star loss was that the restaurant and the shop checkout counters are both in the shop section, so there were a lot of people shopping and actually blocking access to the checkout counter. Little difficult to navigate, but the food was well worth the effort to muscle my way to the [online] order pick up.

Another good experience with fast service, good food. One disappointment, I paid cash for the meal with a $100 bill and cashier simply laid the $62 in my hand. The register does all the work computing the change, the LEAST cashier can do is count change back. A stupid problem that occurs almost anywhere you shop nowadays, but it's still wrong. 11-12-2022 Afternoon meal on a cold day with just a short wait. A warm fireplace welcomed us to our seat. Server Kayley was a real professional, good service you don't see enough these days. 10-01-2023 Ordered sirloin cooked medium well, but it was completely red on the inside. I didn't send it back (I never send back food). I ate it anyway, but it was chewy, not a quality piece. My lady had it cooked well done and it was cooked properly. However, hers was a bit chewy also. The rest of the food was good, but either the steam table is not working properly or the food sat several minutes in the window. Another couple who came in about the same time got their food quicker and done about the time ours arrived. Maybe it's just a sign of the times, but I don't like it.

Ordered fried fish and fried chicken. The fish came out hot and golden. The chicken came out over cooked and tasted like old grease. Sent it back and asked the to fix it, but when the new chicken came out it was worse than the 1st one. Spoke to the manager and suggested to him that I think the grease is just old and needs to be changed out because the fish was great. He told me that it can't be the grease because they cook the fish and chicken in the same grease. First off, that is a big no, no because of cross contamination and people being allergic.

Absolutely perfect! Food was cooked perfectly and exactly as ordered. Server was a joy and very attentive and the hostess was so sweet and accommodating. We were freezing when we arrived and she gave us a table in front of the roaring fireplace. We hope we can repeat this experience as it has been very inconsistent.

You can always count on Cracker Barrel for consistency. The food may not be fine dining gourmet, but if it's good home cooking you're looking for you can't beat 'em. It's always our "go to" whenever we're meeting with friends for a visit and a meal and it doesn't matter where it's located, it always feels the same. Sometimes, that's quite a good feeling.

Before the pandemic as a whole I could count on this restaurant for good hot food!!! The best part of the experience was the waitress Beverly but our food was cold fish was half done a horrible horrible food experience. After traveling 7 hrs I was counting on Cracker Barrel. Unless we here from corporate I will never treat my team to this restaurant
