Beautiful waterfall. I did the full loop all the way to the top down. The trail system is quite expansive and easy to take a wrong turn. The easiest way to get straight there is to go through both campgrounds and enter the trail near the bathroom. The hike probably would have been under 2 miles if I went that way but I got turned around and went the long way instead. Quite the workout that way with elevation gain.
Had an amazing time! We bought a canyoneering and white water rafting package from French Broad Adventures and it was soooo worth it! Canyoneering guides, Marz and Anya, were awesome!! (Rafting guide, John, was awesome too!!) Highly recommend FBA!!
I had a wonderful time hiking Cove Creek Falls in Brevard, NC today! The trail was easy and the waterfall at the end was absolutely beautiful. It's a bit of a drive into the woods to get there, and the GPS can be a bit finicky, but once you find the trailhead there is parking available. One thing to note is that there are no signs, so be sure to have a map or directions handy. Overall, I highly recommend this hike for anyone looking for a scenic and accessible adventure in the Brevard area!
The smaller falls you come to are fantastic! Cove Creek Falls itself was just ok and disappointing.....you cannot get close at all to get a decent photo due to the foliage being very thick, lots of trees. The good is....the hike is soooo worth it!! The trail is marked very well, super easy to follow, thick beautiful foliage, lots of photo opportunities, loads and loads of beautiful ferns, bridges to cross the wide sections of the creek, (good workout too). About 2 miles after passing the campground there is a great spot to sit by the creek awhile and just relax. We will definitely be going back just for the beautiful hike! Please remember waterfalls are dangerous!!!
Medium difficulty 4.5 mile loop. If you can, make sure to take the off shoot to cove creek falls. I would say that it is high difficulty but only for about 100 yards down, but then you have to come back up to get back on the loop. The waterfall is definitely worth it though!
From the small parking area along FR 475, this 2.5 mile out-and-back hike is fairly easy. No steep elevation changes. The waterfall is about 50 feet tall with a nice, multi-tiered series of cascades. Unfortunately, there is a lot of deadfall across the base of the falls which hurts the aesthetics (and photography). That said, it's still worth the trip, and there's a pretty cascade along the hike, just off FR 809.
Enjoyed the hike. Wasn’t sure where to go a couple of times, but had AllTrails app to help. You go through a couple of meadow campgrounds which were lovely. Parts were difficult up top. If you want to hike to the lower campground that would make for an easy family walk. Hike to falls was nice, but you don’t get to enjoy a good view of them. There were dogs off leash and a few mountain bikes that came barreling down, but overall it was nice and peaceful. Not crowded at all. You get to enjoy the sound of the falls and creek most of the way.
This is a favorite hike. We rarely see people when the campsites aren't occupied, and the falls are gorgeous. The start of the trail is a wide gravel road, with a two foot bridges over creek crossings. Once you get through the second campsite, the trail becomes a more typical hiking trail through the woods. You can reach the falls from either side of the creek, so you don't need to cross the log footbridge unless you want to explore that side of the creek.
Wonderful place, need to go again for a week or so, at least. Wow, did I love it there!!! Excellent place for a weekend backpacking with Friends & Family. River is awesome, creeks too, waterfalls gorgeously placed everywhere; thank You, Lord for thi
This free museum is a hidden gem. The passionate volunteers gave us a personal tour and personal insights from their own lives which just added to the great experience. They have an amazingly diverse collection of unique and well curated artifacts, m
My 13yo chihuahua mix was sick, was able to get a same day appt. She had a very high fever. Dr. McPherson & staff drew blood and gave her fluids, determined meds needed. He called later in the evening to check on her. Then office called early next mo
In town for work and thought this one be a good local spot. Boy was I right. The Mac attack burger was delicious and the wings were huge and the sauces were fantastic. Would definitely come back.
This is the playground of playgrounds!! Great park for kids all ages. My 2 year old absolutely loved it here! Also a few white squirrels running around a cool little added bonus!
What a fabulous meal! The homemade ginger hot tea was absolutely excellent. Simple and delicious. The chicken pho had a lovely broth, a good amount of chicken, and very reasonably priced. Loved it.
So pretty. White squirrels all over the property. The mansion was beautiful and I'm sure in spring and summer all the green spaces with the gardens are just perfect. I will come back for sure. Updated 1 year later for Halloween: the park and trail i
Probably this was the best lox sandwich and blueberry muffin, me and my wife ever had. It was so fresh and delicious! And coffee was made just right and not super heated. Good value for your bucks. Whenever back for hiking, we will stop by. Highly re
