Courtyard Springfield - Hotel in Springfield - 3462 Freedom Dr, USA

Nice property, clean rooms, friendly staff, great fitness center! Tony at the bistro was definitely the highlight! the breakfast burrito was amazing and service could not have been better! we will definitely stay here again the next time we’re in the area! Location is convenient to “everything!” dinner recommendation to Indigo was spot on!

Good clean hotel in a safe, populated area. There is not a complementary breakfast (we went to Walmart w/in walking distance and picked up a few breakfast items). There is no microwave or hot tub. There is a nice outdoor seating area which I personally like at a hotel, especially after driving in a car all day. The lobby area is perfect for hanging out. The customer service was great, and the hotel was clean. Springfield is an Amtrak town, so you will hear trains no matter where you stay.

We arrived at this hotel at 1:30 am due to a delayed flight. We were initially told that even though we had checked in via the app we had to wait until the night auditor had finished running computer backups before we could get our room key. After a few minutes we were asked our names, and then told that they’d made keys for us after all. Not a huge deal, but a little frustrating to not be able to go straight to our rooms. There was a bit of an odd smell when we walked into our room, but we either got used to it or it dissipated. I noticed it again when I started the shower, so maybe it’s the cleaning products? Also, if you're going to have three bottles of bath products in the shower, can you please use some contrast in the label so I can actually read what each one is? The room had a balcony that was closed due to an “upcoming renovation” but that seemed to be the only prep work that had been done, so it seemed a little suspect. I hadn’t really planned on going out there since there wasn’t a view, but it’s a little annoying to have an amenity offered but not really. On the plus side I thought the shower was nice and big, and a really handy bedside charger—with USB-C, even.

So this is not really Courtyard's fault but for their pricing you'd kind of expect it. If you book through Priceline, you are told that there is a free breakfast. There is not. There is a bistro that can be charged to your room. There is also supposed to be a hot tub. It is currently under "renovation" and appears to have been for quite some time. As far as what the hotel controls, the rooms are extremely clean, the towels are very soft, and the location is great. There is no microwave in the room which is odd but lots of restaurants are nearby. For its price you would definitely expect more, and Priceline says they will work on updating their site, so they list that there is no free breakfast anymore and no working hot tub.

Needed a place as I was traveling back home after being in Chicago. It was a convenient place to stop. The facility was easy to find and located in an area that felt safe. Several options for restaurants in the area. Our room was very nice and everything was neat and clean.

We stayed to night and each evening was a completely different experience with staff at the front desk. We travel as a large group booking 10 rooms and sat in the lobby the first evening and had a great experience the second day was a bust and ruined the evening for many of our party who just retreated to their rooms rather than be antagonized by the front desk staff. We were yelled at for having conversation and also about our kids in the pool area over an incident that had happened the day prior that involved no a one of us. I guess its a hit or miss.

Either retrofit this hotel or knock it down and rebuild. Every time I (or the kids) walked, the floors creak so I had to ensure we limited any movement by about 9 pm. Such was not the case with the guest staying right above us. Walking to and fro till past midnight. I don’t care about amenities or free breakfast. I’ll even deal with a slightly dirty room. Two deal breakers though: flimsy floors/walls and air conditioning system not working well or at all and this is the absolute worst hotel in terms of flimsy floors.

I would say for the price, the amazing staff, comfortable rooms, cleanliness, even during a renovation being done is stunning and I will say this will be a place well worth staying now and the future. I urge and advise for other travelers when in Springfield Illinois give Sleep Inn a stay
