Courtyard Oakland Downtown - Featured Reviews (886)
I recently stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Oakland and had a wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, the service was top-notch, but I want to give a special shout-out to Amber at the coffee shop. Every morning, she greeted me with a smile and remembered my usual order, which made my mornings start off on a great note. Her attention to detail and friendly demeanor truly stood out.
The hotel itself was excellent. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. The amenities were up to standard, and the location was convenient for my needs.
One area for potential improvement would be the addition of complimentary snacks and drinks for airline crews. After long and exhausting days, a little extra hospitality in the form of complimentary refreshments would be greatly appreciated. It’s a small gesture that could make a big difference, especially for those of us who are just looking to get to our rooms and unwind.
Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely consider returning. Thanks again to Amber for making my mornings so pleasant!
Stayed in a suite with king bed. The room was immaculate. It was unfortunate that it was $45 per night for the valet, but being downtown, it was not unexpected. Overall, very helpful staff and a great room.
This review if focused specifically for government travelers on official business, who also value being Bonvoy Elites. I rated the hotel as very average in April 2018, and have stayed here ~3-5 times since. I am now downgrading my view of this property one point based upon a new development. I'm current Titanium/lifetime Platinum, mentioned only to document I've been quite loyal to Marriott over the years.||||Short version: This property does not provide points or elite night credits for stays booked for government travel. If that's important to you, I suggest looking elsewhere.||||When I applied for missed night credits, I was told that by using the government mandated travel agent, the "third party" clause meant no credit. I pointed out that I have over 400 actual (not bonus) nights over the past ~19 years that were booked the same way and credited automatically. I noted that the six nights immediately before my stay were in Marriott properties booked the same way, and those were credited automatically. ||||The reply then claimed the "rate" was not eligible for credits. If that's true, it certainly isn't transparent. And I'm skeptical. The only time I've encountered a qualifying rate issue is when there's a conference...not the case for my stay. Just a plain old business trip. And if the "best rate" is available directly with Marriott, then I presumably paid more than that...so for me, it doesn't add up.||||My take away: They don't really want the government's business. ||||That's fine. Hotel capacity in downtown Oakland has improved since 2018. I'm voting with my feet. What's the point in a loyalty program if you're not valued...
I enjoyed my stay in San Francisco. Justin, who ran the food service area, was very professional and kind and worked hard each morning to prepare my family's breakfast. The location is close to many cultural sites and Chinatown. It was a great location that was perfect for my trip.
I wasn’t expecting much. It’s a low to mid level chain and it is what it is, but the valet is a big problem. When I arrived, I needed to pull through the gate to the lot so I could unload a substantial amount of baggage. The valet wouldn’t let me. He literally said “no.” And then things like “valet only.” It didn’t matter how many times I asked to go through the gate a mere 7 feet so I could unload or how much I told him he could take the key right after I finished. The answer was a hard no. So I rang the front desk and they over-rided the valet, who I could barely understand btw. His name, though, was Diego and unfortunately my Spanish was not good enough to communicate with him in the USA. My bad I guess. Then the desk manager, Eric, I sister I hand over my key after check in. They were really focused on their rules, after which he explained that the parking lot was owned by a separate company. And then I explained that, to me the customer, it’s all the same. It was a terrible first impression. But there were a couple of heroes in this ordeal. Anika saved me and allowed me to pull in that crucial and protected 7 feet. And then there was Ma Bernice, who actually got me a free day of valet ($45 value), which is a ridiculous amount of money for overnight parking. Still, I feel like they should have comped me both nights because that’s how you make sure your customers come back. Perhaps if either their GM (Vladimir) or if their assistant manager (Tyrell) would have been on the property at all, i may have had a better result; but one was out do the country and the other was MIA. I don’t think they’re gonna change their ways anyway, but like I said it is what it is.
Positive: Great value. I came down after breakfast hours and GM got me a coffee, even though restaurant was closed. Also, Lynn at restaurant in eve. has a great personality. Friendly staff in general. Good to have breakfast. Negative: Hours for food service could be longer. Would be nice to have coffee and some pastry available for self-service. Negative: ""
The hotel was clean enough. There were face smoosh marks on the bed backboard, but otherwise, it was pretty decent. The valet and front desk were nice. Location is sketch, but it's downtown Oakland, soooo....... you get what you get. Felt safe outside hotel.
I had a great experience here during my stay. The staff was very friendly, great location, and the breakfast/small restaurant on site was nice. Shout out to Justin who works the breakfast - his sandwiches are delicious!
I took one star off because the fitness center is really subpar. The free weights are tucked into a corner of a small room, there's only one weight bench, and the layout of the room is bad so you don't really know where to set up. Also, the bathroom is attached to the gym in a bad way. Hard to describe, but you'll know when you see it.
Cozy, unpretentious yoga studio for people of all ages and abilities. I've only gone to this location one time so far but the instructor was great. Lots of natural light and a nice waiting area with clean restrooms and water available. Highly recomme
Love to support small business inspired by family and culture and led by strong women! Highly recommend the latiya latte and champorado mocha (as well as their chicken empanada) ð we had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with co-owner Ari and l
We went at 8pm and ordered a 6-piece buffalo wing and a pepperoni pizza. There was one man who was working the front and kitchen. He was extremely kind and friendly, and the food was ready quickly. We wish we had ordered more than 6 wings, as they we
