Courtyard Kansas City Country Club Plaza - Hotel in Kansas City - 4600 Mill Creek Pkwy, USA

This historical hotel has been converted to a Marriott Courtyard. The hotel itself is lovely. Old, nice lobby, interesting historical pieces throughout the hotel. Room was nice and comfortable. The hotel offered a minimalist bar and Starbucks in the lobby. The front desk staff is really why I am giving this review 3 out of 5 stars. We were delayed one night due to flight issues. I had checked in online but phoned the hotel to let them know that we would not be there until the next day. The rude gentleman who answered my call (at the front desk), could have cared less if I was coming in at all and hung up on me. Other face to face encounters with front desk personnel were marginal. Not happy to see me. Not sure if we could have extra coffee packets for the room. One had such a wrinkled white shirt that it truly looked like he slept in it. We couldn't figure out the role of the person sitting at the stand outside the front door? Security? Door man? Never helped us with the door, luggage, or security. This is below average regarding Courtyard staff. Not cheap either. $836 for four nights in a standard room!

Loved this hotel! We transferred from another hotel blocks away in the middle of the night. Carly was able to accommodate us quickly. She was very empathetic, knowledgeable and super nice! I loved that this is on the National Registrar of Historic Places. The rooms were nice, clean, and spacious! The parking garage was not my favorite but we found parking above the garage closer to the back of the hotel. I had an excellent experience here! There is also a beautiful magnolia grandiflora tree in front!

I had a mixed stay. On one hand, the hotel was great. It's quiet, has clean rooms and a lovely bar. On the other hand, my car was one of two that night to be broken into in their garage. Marriott comped our stay but obviously was not going to take any fault, as expected. I would love to recommend this hotel, just don't bring your car.

Positive: The central location in KC and being hear the Country Club Plaza was great. I enjoyed being in the historic building. Parking valets were excellent. Negative: The mattresses on both beds were worn out. Too soft and sloped on the sides that are probably used the most. The room was dark during daylight. Not much natural light with the type of drapes and where my room was located.

BEWARE: HOTEL IS NOT SAFE My family and I rented a room here because we were in town for a concert. Rooms were fine, a bit dated but nothing crazy. As we came home we were stopped by security and warned that my car was too valuable to park in their lot because they have a lot of thefts and that he would advise parking out front which isn’t possible because my car is a sports car and can’t make it in and out of the entrance without causing damage to my car because it’s so steep. I obviously didn’t feel safe and felt like the only option I had was to stay with my car overnight but thought maybe I could talk to the front desk and see if this was just an employee that needed a bit more training. When I went to the front desk the response was “ya you roll the dice parking outside…” and followed up with “we take no responsibility for anything that happens…” so now here it is 3 AM, my family is upstairs upset, I’m sitting with my car and apparently need to stay here overnight so we have a vehicle in the morning. Would definitely recommend looking elsewhere unless you aren’t worried about the apparent high volume of theft.

I’ve stayed at this Courtyard 5 or 6 times over the last few years. The excellent location to Country Club Plaza and KCMO make it stand out. It’s an old historic building which has it’s charm. Staff have always been pleasant. But the rooms are extremely dated. Stains on the walls and carpets, toilets that don’t always flush, sinks that don’t always drain, and an elevator that is so loud when it dings on your floor that it wakes you up in the night. But above all the other negatives, one stands out. Every time I stay in this hotel I make a point to ask for *daily* housekeeping service. I am told I will receive daily housekeeping service. But every time I stay I do not receive daily housekeeping service. It is unbelievable to me that a request so simple can repeatedly, without fail during every one of my stays, go unfulfilled. I always expressed my frustration to the front desk and they always apologize and say they will send a note to the housekeeping manager. Whatever the disconnect between the front desk and housekeeping needs to be addressed by the general manager. It is such a turn off, as a customer, to be failed repeatedly in this manor. I cannot recommend this hotel .

Rooms were clean. Staff was very nice. Great location to visit the Plaza for dining and shopping. Very close to the Kemper art museum. Windows and curtains were oddly placed. Breakfast was a pretty expensive add on so we did not try it. We would definitely stay here again.

Positive: The facility was close to EVERTHING I was attending and volunteering for all weekend. The hotel was well appointed and staff encountered hotel employee at the early morning coffee. Negative: The hotel was lacking just a bit in Disability access for those in need. Probably all the steps to even those for elderly. My thoughts of having 2 groups requiring food service and only ONE preparer on staff leaving guest a 30-60 min. wait.
