Courtyard Charlotte Matthews - Hotel in Matthews - 11425 E Independence Blvd, USA

An older Marriott rooms were adequate staff was good, nothing to write home about. The room was kept up as far as cleaning but needs maintenance. ( example... bathtub had a Crack all around the tile line... I'm sure there's mold below the tub, and it looked like the ceiling had been fixed from the room above. Good thing I only stayed 2 nights) Appearance was ok, unfortunately I've had bathroom walls apart and know what's going on)

We are a family of 6 staying for a week. Our first night here we asked for an extra pillow and was told they don’t have extra pillows. The bathrooms are dated, the carpet and blankets feel starchy, front desk was not friendly. They provided the room with 2 wash cloths. We went and asked for a few more washcloths and towels but was only given 3 extra towels. The location was the main reason why we booked the room.

The location is ideal. The hallways, elevator, and rooms are all very humid and the hallways smell like cigarettes. The rooms are very outdated. There is a bistro downstairs in the lobby where I am pretty sure microwaved food is served. We brought in our own dinner and sat in the lobby and were told since it is a "bistro" they don't allow outside food....we were the only ones in the area. There is no sign posted that says no outside food or drink.

We had to wait 2hrs before our room was ready even though we booked days ahead of time. We did not get a room with a balcony as we requested. The bathrooms are outdated. Theres no ventilation in the bathroom. The shower needs replaced. Our toilet stopped up. The ice machine did not work. The location of the hotel is difficult to navigate. Theres only one entrance and if you miss the entrance you will have to go all the way back to the highway and come back around. And for a similar price we booked at another hotel with modern updated bathrooms and complimentary breakfast. Not a good experience.

Worst hotel experience ever…reserved a room 4 months ahead and was told that the first floor had double beds..called back only to find out that our reservations were not saved. Made another reservation and was told the same thing (the first floor had double beds). Arrived at the hotel and the supervisor explained that the first floor only had king-size beds and that all the rooms were taken except for one room. We did end up taking the king-size suite with a couch that had a pullout bed due to a handicapped individual. However, when I opened the door to the room, it smelt like mold, the hotel room was nasty, the furniture had stains, the blankets and sheets had stains, the carpet was nasty, the walk-in tub was hideous, and the pullout bed was not made and had huge stains on it. We stayed up until 3 am trying to get accommodations for a new room to accommodate the other two people since we needed another bed. Only to be told by staff that there was nothing they could do and that per policy, we would have to pay a new fee. The next day, we moved to the third floor and the hallway was scorching hot (no air flowing). When trying to access our new room, the key did not work. We spent about 10 mins trying to get in. We figured out that we were given the wrong room number. I had to walk back downstairs to advise and was given the correct key cards. The door would not lock correctly going in and out. And when shutting the door, the locks stayed out. Also, in this room, when trying to grab a towel, the towel rack fell, and when trying to fix it. I almost slipped and fell. In both rooms, we noticed that the curtains were nasty. On the last day when packing up an old sock that did not belong to anyone in the room was found in the bed covers. Only certain hotel staff were accommodating and friendly. The supervisor was not and most definitely not accommodating. Never again will my family stay at this hotel and we will not recommend staying at this hotel!

We utilized this location as a midway point for all our time back and forth between Concord, Waxsaw, and Monroe. Not a 5 star hotel but it was clean and met the bill for what we needed. Would stay here again! Pool was refreshing and front desk staff were great. We didn't get around to using the hotel market or the bar but loved having the option available!

By far the worst experience we've ever experienced staying at a Marriott hotel. We've stayed at the hotel for 3 days already and not once has the room been properly cleaned. If the room sleeps 5, why do you continue to only supply 3 towels? The conditioner in the shower is completely empty. The owner and management team need serious help.

Nice room, friendly staff, Quiet. Only complaint is the over stuffed pillows and the beds felt like i was sleeping on a 2x4. The traffic on Independence Blvd is atrocious. I would stay again if the need arises.
