The food was okay.
The service was lacking, I guess because there was only one waitress, which may have contributed to the waitress being very curt. Customers kept going to the counter asking for coffee, silverware, etc... because adequate attention was not given to the tables...
Maybe things would be different if one would feel welcomed.
Country Kitchen puts out delicious food and they have been doing it for over 40+ years, at a affordable price.
Been here many times, today had breakfast.
Ordered French toast combo, eggs, bacon and French toast, it was cooked perfectly and delicious.
Sonia, my waitress did a great job.
They do get busy here. Hard finding quality help leads to only one waitress, which means their might be a little wait time. Be respectful and remember that you are getting a great meal at a affordable price.
This little hole in the wall is located in a dingy strip mall. But it is clean inside, and the food is good. Price is reasonable. Today there was just one server so we were there awhile before we ordered. She handled everything efficiently, and the food came out quick once out order was in.
Don't really frequent the country kitchen any more, but when I do come, it's fast service, decent sized portions, good food. Not much to complain about
We've been out of state for almost 8 years, and when we came back, this was our first stop. Sonya, our favorite server, recognized us ! The food was superb, quick, and served hot, exactly the way we ordered it, and it was delicious. Large portions mean you could split a plate, but who wants to share? Same cook as before. He is an absolute artist with a spatula. lol we really enjoy the breakfasts here. So glad to come home to something familiar
Country Kitchen is one of the few remaining places of the days of The Bakersfield Sound. A known hang out for the musicians who once played the now gone Trouts. Red Simpson was known to eat here. This city has neglected much of his history. It is by accident that this wonderful little diner still survives. This is a must visit for fans of Bakersfield Country Music. ( Merle Haggard, Buck Owens )

Golden Bull under new ownership keeps the same flavors but also adds an exquisite Mexican twist to the menu! Just tasted the BEST Michelada I've ever had! Staff is much nicer and friendlier. Recommend the tacos al pastor. Menudo on the weekends.
Old-timey breakfast restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Don't get fooled by the shabby exterior impression.
The menu is probably not very suitable for kids though, all very savory, even the waffles and pancakes.
Toilet was clean but there was only o

Maya you were great! Thank you! The decor and store were cute and had great items, the service was great and she keep the drinks coming without even asking, the food was hot when it got to our table and the flavors were spot on.
Expect great service,
Stopped for dinner in Bakersfield on our way to San Jose. We enjoyed some pupusas - shrimp for hubby & loroco (squash flower) for me. The chicken tamal was very fluffy and had more of a spongy texture. The plantain empanadas were very rich and creamy
