Cottages El Portal - Hotel in El Portal - 8840 NE 2nd Ave, USA

A while back during my trip to Miami, I decided to stay at this place. Owner was super nice at first but when it was time for me to check out, owner made such a hostile environment for me and my family to be around. Owner decided to double booked the place knowing our check out is at 11am. 7 am the same day, stranger walked into my room and started to move my belongings off the bed. Attempted to call the provided number at least 4 times, no response. Instead of returning my call n maybe explain if this is a miscommunication or not, owner returned my call very agitated and started to make racist remarks against my family and I. Due to the owner’s lack of communication, we ended having to leave the place at 7:25 am instead the 11am that we initially agreed upon.Because of this past experience, I could never in good conscience ever refer this place to anyone I care about. Overall I’d give it a -20 out of 10👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

The location of the property was alright. It was in a quiet neighborhood. The nearest stores were about a 15 minute walk such as Starbucks. However, the property’s cottage had insects specifically, in the kitchen cabinets. The mattress was extremely poor quality and uncomfortable. It caused me back and shoulder pain. Free internet was available. Yet, it continuously disconnected. The washer and dryer were not so bad. Although, they were a shared unit and could only be used with money. A disadvantage considering that the property didn’t provide housekeeping services. The property did have kitchen utilities available but most of them were old and unusable. The stove in the kitchen partially worked. There was only one AC in the property, which was a window unit. The kitchen did not have an AC. The price per night was not reasonable considering all the factors.

It was an excellent stay for about one month, July 2023. The place is very safe, secure, clean, and has excellent landscaping and nearby to all Miami famous locations like the airport, the beaches, the zoo , and all other locations and markets. In addition, the location is equipped with a washer and dryer easy acceable with a car parking as well. The house cleaning staff are very friendly, smiles and helpful as well. The WiFi is excellent as well. We use it full month without any disconnect at all. Also, the kitchen equipment is excellent, nothing is missing which includes the refrigerator, the microwave, the oven, the roster, the blunder, dishes, plates, cups spones, forkes in a simple way nothing is missing for a kitchen use. The location is near a lot of supermarkets for daily corsary Also, the location is excellent for a daily walk with a full of greenery views and trees. Simpel Noted for improvement are: 1. wish if the owner will consider futures visitors to re fill the consumable like the tissues for kitches and toilets and sope as well. 2. The tolite flooring needs to be equipped with a drainage for easy cleaning. 3. Add more electric plugs near the bed. 4. Do maintenance to the bulb 💡 and increase light lumens In conclusion, it was a wonderful experience, and I will repeat if I come to the Miami shores again .

Horrible place first and last time here the rooms have bugs and a weird smell the theres not enough necessities inside of the unit the doors barely lock as if anyone can walk in and the cleaning people are so rude they dont give you time to gather your things

It is an amazing place to stay. Flexible, enough room. All other commercial hotels are missing out on what the cottages excels at. Privacy and peacefulness. 10/10 would recommend anyone to stay here!

My stay was good. The location was perfect…it was close to almost all the major attractions in Miami, and having a full kitchen was nice. The only thing I was unhappy about was that everything in the house was dirty, from kitchenware to the floor. I would walk around barefoot and after 5 minutes my feet were black. All of the pots and pans looked like they weren’t washed or rinsed after each use. Other than that, I really enjoyed my stay at Cottages El Portal. I recommend staying here, I just feel that housekeeping could spend a little more time in each room!

We booked this cottage maybe 2 months in advance, tried contacting the property an entire week before departure of trip to verify no response. The only possibility of early check in is if there is an early check out,and if the cleaners get to room early. Straight off of a cruise we made an attempt to get in rooms because we received the password to enter the property. There is no way to get in without a sent code by management to guest. We recieved code so we were under impression we could enter property early. Long story short we were wrong and received heavy backlash from owners over a honest mistake. Wouldn't recommend. Yes the rooms had amenities, very similar to basic set up in a standard apartment but wasn't worth the stress. This property is owned by city so hoping a civil resolve will be reached

Nice place to stay. Calm neighborhood in general. But the wall are thin like paper and unfortunately, my daughter and I has to deal with an arguing couple noises all night long. We felt like we were in the same house😔. The kitchen is full option, the place was very clean and comfy. Didn't like the bed but it's just a question of taste. There are buses stops around, some food markets 8 min away at feet.
