Cooney Cottage - Featured Reviews (7)
This B&B has a wonderful location - short walking distance to Cliff Walk where all the mansions are located. Short walking distance to a big beach and into the town of Newport. Spacious bedrooms, well decorated. Shared bathroom but reflected in the price. Great place to stay! And pet friendly also.
We came to Newport to attend a wedding for a weekend in late October 2016 and needed to bring our pup along. We found Cooney Cottage and saw they welcomed dogs up to 80lbs. Couldn't have worked out better. It's convenient to everything in town and pretty much walking distance to everything in town and just a block away from Eastons Beach and the cliff walk. The house itself was decorated very nicely and everything was very clean and neat. The owner was very friendly and provided a nice breakfast each morning with fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins, and cereal. We will definitely be back for a getaway weekend with our pup.
The house was clean and nicely furnished and the bedroom spacious. Although on a busy road, noise from traffic wasn't a problem. It's possible to walk into the town centre and the cliff walk and beach are right nearby. Rachel, the owner, was pleasant but service was a minimum. Breakfast was nicely presented but pretty basic and water for tea had to be heated in the microwave. The price was reasonable for Newport but some extra attention to detail would be welcome.
Stayed here while in town for a wedding & couldn't have been happier with our choice. Great location (easy walk to the water / Cliff Walk / town) with comfortable & clean rooms. There was another couple in the second of the two rooms, but we were like ships in the night so we didn't mind the shared bathroom. Amazing value for anywhere, but especially given how pricey summer accommodation in Newport is.
Our experience with this B&B was great. Rachael was a great hostess, she met us at the door when we arrived with keys and instructions and after that we hardly saw her. We appreciated that. We had our dog with us and she had treats ready for him as well as a list of pet friendly things to do in town. Everything in town was accessible within walking distance of the cottage. ||||Our room and the bathroom was spotless. The dining area was perfect and we had access to coffee and tea at all times. ||||We look forward to staying here again!
I've stayed at the BnB 2 years in a row now. Location can't be beat. Walking distance to Easton beach (huge bonus on race day morning) and Cliff walk. Free off street parking with a spot always available. Rooms are clean and cozy and bed very comfortable. I've stayed in both rooms and have no complaints. Very affordable B&B for Newport. Will definitely stay here again!
I recently took my pup for an escape to beautiful Rhode Island this October 2016. Everyone needs time for themselves and to rebalance in a crazy world. My stay at Cooney Cottage couldn't have been any more perfect. Location wise: exiting the beautiful home to the right is the entrance to the pristine Cliff Walks for a morning of walking along the ocean and meeting with people from all over whilst you take in the most beautiful of scenery for all senses. Exiting to the left, downtown Newport with the famous Coffee Grinder café and Brick Market Place is a 20 minute walk. You'll pass the Tennis Hall of Fame and Mansions.||||Inside: the owner, Rachel Cooney, is one of the most gracious, beautiful souls who offers her warmth in home and personality and is always there to ensure you have all you need like a warm hug. The room and environment was warm, clean, and private.||||I'll be making this an annual event and can't wait for next year.||||Suzanne
My spouse, toddler and I stayed in the Cherry Blossom room. Very spacious and plenty of room for a pack n play if necessary. The room has an antique couch and a lazy boy type chair. Nicely decorated and clean; bed great. We communicated with our host mostly via text, but she was available in the morning to answer questions. She mostly keeps to herself and leaves her guests to enjoy themselves. If you don't mind this kind of BnB experience, then it is a great place. ||Breakfast was set up nicely for us when we came down at 8:30. Our host asked if we needed anything else and left us to enjoy ourselves. Again we didn't see her much, but that was OK with us. ||The house is set up for guest privacy, so you really only have access to the large bedrooms upstairs (great room!), the dining area, and the small refrig and coffee/tea area set aside for guests. Bathroom is shared, but there are only 2 rooms and we only saw the other guest one time as she walked her dog. There is also a back yard (small-mid sized) that can be accessed by the side gate. We hoped to have breakfast out there but the host said it was too wet, so she set us up nicely inside. ||I would stay here again. The proximity to Cliff Walk and Eagans Beach is a stones throw. The walk to downtown is a bit far, but there is good, cheap parking on Church/Mary street (don't park anywhere else!) Some restaurants also have their own lots, so it's pretty car friendly. Parking is free at the BnB.
Perfect place to stay in Newport. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Wes who was welcoming and informative about the Lodge and surrounding area. The bed was comfortable and the room was charming. Breakfast was delicious. Coffee, teas, and a v
Nicely crafted bracelets, love the fit and the clasp they use. Very durable. And love the designs! They were helpful and held a specific color and size for me when the new shipment came in. Conveniently on the last day of my trip! I did overhear a gi
This bed and breakfast is an absolute must stay in Newport. It's adorable, clean, and cozy. Walking distance to the beach and the bars, but far enough that you can sleep soundly. Serena, the inn keeper is the sweetest person you'll ever meet. She tru
