Place has many trails with beautiful view. You can check out their trout ponds and rivers. Feels very quiet in there, trails are pretty long and go away from noisy highways and roads.
It is the largest state park in Long Island with many miles of trails based on old network of roads and few footpath trails. Surprisingly, relatively few pitch pines present despite mostly sandy soil of the preserve. You can combine official trails (blue, yellow, red, white) with sandy roads to achieve hike of desired mileage.
It's a secret treasure on the island – absolutely stunning! Perfect for fly fishing and enjoying a day surrounded by nature. You can also feed the fish, which is really awesome.
Do not come here. Those of us who know and love this park want the paths to stay quiet and clean, the wildlife undisturbed and the trails well-marked. Oh OK, you can come, but please respect our beautiful park. You can expect great, level-ground hiking on well-tended trails in tranquil forests along the Connetquot River. Visit the Hatchery and check out the stands where anglers for trout can come and try their hand. Yes, you will hear the LIRR off in the distance, but that only reminds you that we still have wonderful chunks of forest to enjoy in the midst of suburban sprawl.
Park is right of sunrise hwy in Oakdale. They close at 6 so just be aware of that. Lots of beautiful scenery and three hiking trails. Red trail is the shortest, next is green with than the last is blue which is about an 8 mile hike. Not so crowded which was amazing. They do have rest rooms by the entrance to use before starting your walk . Just beware, ticks are high here, so I would recommend stopping every 20 min or so too check yourself.
50 plus miles of hiking trails. Love the fish hatchery. all different types of trout. Lots of wildlife.
Originally I was going to give this park 4 stars as it had a confusing trail system but upon reaching the trout hatchery it became an instant 5/5. The scenery is spectacular. Wildlife was amazing as well. Birds included ospreys, wild turkeys, great crested flycatchers, and more. I also got to see an eastern box turtle! I will most certainly come here again.
Really pretty park. The tour of the water mill is super interesting for local history buffs. Feeding the fish at the hatchery is another good family friendly activity.

A great place to have dinner with your significant other or the entire family on a warm summer's eve on an outside patio. The menu has so many great choices from tapas to soups and salads. And the entrees have such wonderful descriptions it makes it
From my very first order I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. More chicken and veggies balanced well with pasta. Soups are full of chunk! Not overly brothy like many other places cut corners. I keep ordering because of the burst of flavor, and
