My son is 5 years old and he enjoys coming to this class a lot. The instructor not only teaches martial arts, but takes moments to teach about respect in class, how to talk to others, and essentially how to interact with others.

I have been to several martial arts schools before this one and when I moved to Boone for school I started classes here. I love it they are all extremely nice and patient and a lot of fun to practice with at their school!

Our son has been taking classes at Common Ground Martial Arts Academy for over a year and he loves it! It is about so much more than learning the art of self defense. The instructors emphasize ideals such as respect for others, courtesy, team work, leadership and winning/losing with dignity and grace. They demonstrate self-respect and confidence without arrogance. The instructors strike a perfect balance between commanding respect, hard work and discipline from the students while creating an enjoyable, fun, safe environment. We have witnessed so many advancements in our son's physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing! Give it a shot, you and your kids won't regret the decision!

We have been very happy with CG. Our daughter is learning valuable lessons such as respect for her instructors as well as her piers. She loves the classes and looks forward to going each week.

We have been absolutely thrilled with our kindergartner’s classes. Master Taylor is an exceptional teacher- kind and patient while also know how to hold the line in a strict yet caring way. This class is great not only for teaching karate, but also self discipline, respect for yourself, your teacher, and your peers, and inner strength. I couldn’t recommend more.

We've been very pleased to recently join the Common Ground family. Our child, an elementary age student, began with Zoom classes and is now attending a mixture of Zoom and in person classes. Both course types have been very high quality with great engagement on the part of the instructors and students. Master Taylor is highly attentive, responsive, and cares about each child individually. He's skilled and has a passion for his work. Our son is having fun learning skills and discipline.

My youngest son, who is 6, has been coming to Common Grounds now since September. We started at the recommendation of another family and I am impressed with Master Taylor and his attention to instruction that is fun and encouraging and on the level. I can see my son's confidence growing as he learns new skills and practices them. With each month he is getting more and more interested in what he is learning and doing and this is because of the excellent instruction he is getting from Master Taylor. I would recommend his academy to any family in the High Country.

My daughter who is 9 and myself do an adult class with Master Taylor and it's been one of the most positive experiences we have had with a sport in the High Country. This association is like a large family, myself and my daughter have made friends and look forward to each class as we learn more and more in this traditional martial arts style. She has learned follow through discipline respect and confidence in herself so far. I would recommend Common Ground Martial Arts Academy not only for learning a great skills but for reaching your fitness goals as well.
