Comfort Suites Ocean City West - Hotel in Ocean City - 12718 Ocean Gateway, USA

After reading the reviews, my family and I decided to give this hotel a try (just for a 2 night stay). I had high hopes for this hotel based off some great reviews and the customer service prior to arrival, that was not the case. While the room was very nice and clean, During our stay there were several issues. Upon check in there were only 3 pillows on our bed. I requested an additional 2 pillows due to the bed being super uncomfortable and being pregnant. I was told the hotel didn’t have a bunch of additional pillows but they would see what they could do and I could pick them up on my way back (I had some errands to run). They washed 2 pillows and told me they would be ready in 15-20 minutes when I came back. I came back 30 minutes later after arriving to the hotel and the pillows they gave me were soaked. Apparently their dryer wasn’t working I was told. Second issue, the hotel is dog friendly. Not an issue. I have a service dog since I’m disabled and I tried to walk my dog outside in the grass area which was covered in hundreds of piles of dog poop. I guess the hotel doesn’t require pet owners to pick up their dog’s waste? So gross 🤢. We liked the fact that the hotel had free breakfast until my husband picked up a bagel that had mold on it. Front desk staff seemed like that was the norm and didn’t seemed bothered by it. Upon waking up this morning (day of check out) I smelled a gas/ propane smell in my room and it was even stronger outside. It was nauseating to the point where it gave me such a bad migraine I couldn’t eat breakfast. I went to inform the front desk and the lady acted like she didn’t care. I asked if they had a manager onsite I could talk to? She rudely stated no, the manager isn’t here. I’m like we’ll can you give me their name and phone number.. she had to look up the managers name cause apparently she didn’t know who the hotel manager was and told me she didn’t know the phone number, I could just call the hotel number back later today but she had no idea who or when the manager would be in. How do you not know who the hotel manager is? I also noticed that outside the hotel by the entrance that there was dryer lint all over the side wall and the dryer vent was so clogged nothing was coming out of it. Huge fire issue waiting to happen especially with the smell of gas/ propane present. Again the receptionist seemed like she didn’t care. My family and I will not be staying here ever again and I highly recommend you reconsider before making your reservation to stay here. Clean rooms, great staff, customer service is excellent. Management is excellent. He is a wonderful man. Romaine takes care of the customers like they are family. I hotel has been going under remodeling and looks wonderful.

Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, wonderful breakfast. Went to a different hotel first and it was a disaster. They had a room and were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated, the room was wonderful, and I don't have a single complaint. Really wonderful stay.

Overall it wasn't terrible but we have certainly had better. Our doors in our room the one to the bathroom and the one to the connecting room barely opened you really had to pull hard to get them to move. Fit and finish was terrible as far as the fixtures and such go as you can see from the pictures the doorknobs were different colors on one side from the other. All together it felt like a remodel was done extremely hastily and left unfinished. I certainly don't feel as though it is worth the price I paid but for a lower price I would have stayed again.

Unfortunately as much as I liked this hotel I just had an experience that I am sorry to report. I just check out yesterday and left my brand new Guess winter coat in the closet. I called this morning to see if they could mail it to me and long behold I was told that my coat was not found by the housekeeping staff. Which is impossible. So therefore, as much as they want to defend their employees, they have thieves working that do not turn in left behind items and I guess just claim as their own. Well to the maid that did this, Merry Christmas to you, I hope you enjoy MY brand new coat.

Room itself is very spacious, comfortable bed & pillows, beautiful updated bathroom with nice backspace tile. Only negative was smell from entering room itself.||Nice front desk staff.|Breakfast pretty good with waffles to make.||Outlets directly across the street, as well as grocery store, gas stations and eateries all within minutes. Ocean City & the ocean in 5 minutes.

Absolutely loved the place. Close to many attractions, beach, as well as shopping plaza right across road. Restaurants in the area are superb & customer service is great. Friendly environment. Customer Service at the hotel was excellent . Would stay here always. Loved the room as well.

Good, basic, clean, friendly and in W. OceanCity. Best restaurants nearby and a quick drive to Assateague Island. The place to be! Avoid the main peninsula of OC it’s not funny. It’s not fun like the good old days 25+ years ago.
