Stayed one night in July 2024 before having outpatient surgery next door at Northwestern Medicine Grayslake Surgery Center. Everything was fine with one slight exception: the surfaces of the desk, and other tables in the suite had not been wiped clean and sanitized by housekeeping. I believe the bathroom vanity also was not perfectly wiped clean. And the TV remote was not clean. I had to wipe all these surfaces using dampened tissues. This is no small issue, since in a motel room you are using it as if in your own home. But remember that hundreds of strangers have left all their germs in the room before you. Do you think that a poor woman from south of the border is worried about sanitizing surfaces in the many rooms she is changing linens in? Think also about the beds in motel/hotel rooms. They change the sheets, but the blankets and underbedding have been exposed to hundreds of strangers. The very least these properties should do is to sanitize all the surfaces in a room. One other item is that the towels in the bathroom were on shelves way down below the sink. These were difficult for me to reach, since I had much difficulty bending down before my surgery. In every motel room I've ever stayed in, the towels are in racks at eye level and some hung on towel bars. But in this room they were all stored below the sink and even on the lowest shelf at the bottom by the floor. I reserved an accessible room, but the bathtub had only one grab bar, and the base of the tub was not flat but it curved upwards on the sides making it very difficult to maintain balance while showering. I do not have this problem in my home tub. This is typical for these cheap plastic tubs. At least an accessible bathroom should have a tub that has a flat floor, and has at least 2 grab bars. The free hot breakfast was good. I was able to take some food to go to eat later in the day after my surgery.
It was a good stay! I would definitely stay at this place again due to the location and cheap rooms. Breakfast was decent! My friends had ants in their room but they were so kind to recommend to get a new room. Nothing bad to say at all. Probably just to make sure housekeepers are cleaning the rooms throughly 😊
Positive: The staff was friendly, the room was clean and looked to be freshly remodeled. The pool, hot tub, and work facility are all in clean working order. The continental breakfast was nice as well. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel. Negative: ""
Dissatisfied staying experience 1 out of 5 overall changed rooms after observing hair on a pillow. Pet hair on couch. Dissatisfied with staff on shift when I brought it to her attention she responded very nonchalantly. Not concerned at all 2nd room due to change toilet was messed up I asked for a plunger our shower curtain was torn, 1 light bulb needed to be changed. Ac made a loud noise and so did the pipes when shower was on. They took half off 1 night we stayed 4th thru the 8th, unacceptable Room would smell of smoke and weed throughout the day, I brought it up to the attention of staff on duty, another lady she responded thank you for letting us know. The pipe sound got fixed and the bulb replaced. The torn curtain remained, this room and other were definitely not make ready for any guest. I have asked for refund according to this visit after research but the staff denied this, not really sure why
Our room had some serious issues. Upon our arrival the mini fridge was not cold, nor did it keep the pop and snacks cold and the TV didn't work. The manager came promptly and fixed the TV issue but stated there was no temperature control on fridge and that's how they were....never offered to replace it. The floor, especially in the bathroom was filthy, there was what appeared to be mold underneath the bathroom sink and surrounding the shower. There was also some dog food that was left behind on the floor next to the sofa bed, there were no sheets or blankets on the sofa bed nor were they in the room; wouldn't have minded except when we got back to our room at almost 1am (we were there for my son's hockey tournament)it was the last thing we wanted to be doing was make up a bed. I had to go to the front desk to ask for linens. The hot breakfast was awesome. I reserved the room 2.5 weeks beforehand with a Visa debit/credit card. I called a few days beforehand to let them know that we would be paying in cash for our stay. When we got to the hotel we had to give them half of the cash up front and they put the rest of the bill on my Visa card. Upon checkout we finished paying the bill in cash and the woman there asked if we wanted to room charged to the card on file!!! We said no, but the charge still remains in my Visa....not happy about being charged twice as now I have to wait up to 10 business days for a credit to my account....I have bills to pay with the money they took out!!! The hot tub was also nice but you have to get out what seems like every 10 minutes to turn it back on, which for me defeats the purpose of actually using it. The hot tub needs a serious paint job around the edges. I wouldn't have minded if it was a budget hotel but paying almost $450 for 2 nights and the room condition is absolutely ridiculous.
Positive: Staff was friendly and helpful Negative: We ended up staying an extra night due to storms on our route the first room was a bit tight with two queen beds but it worked. The sheets were a bit stained. Needs some cosmetic work The second room was a king room with a sofa it was a much nicer room
Rooms have both queen beds up against a wall. Free breakfest is good basic free breakfest. Hotel only has one entrance and exit onto a one way street. But pricing is good and pretty close to Great America. Room was clean. Beds are VERY firm. Family enjoyed the pool.
Rooms seem to be updated. All hard surface flooring, granite vanity. Even towels are nice. Towel bar in bath woefully small. Hung towels on hangers to dry. Room has iron and ironing board, hotel fridge and a microwave, hair dryer and small coffee maker. Coffee and cold water available in lobby all day.||Very nice hot breakfast includes sausage, scrambled eggs, make your own waffles. Cold items include cereal, bagels, bread for toast, pastries, hard boiled eggs, yogurt. Milk, 3 kinds of juice, and coffee and tea. 6:30-9:30 M-F, 7-10 SS. ||
