Comfort Inn & Suites South Hill I-85 - Hotel in South Hill - 250 Thompson St, USA

When I'm passing through and just looking for a place to spend the night, I'm looking for something clean/simple, safe for my vehicle, and convenient. This Comfort Inn is removed off the main road so it's quiet and less likely to have unwanted passerbys. It also has cameras in the parking lot and it's well lit. The room is a good size, maybe a bit dated, but it's clean and has a comfortable bed. That and a clean bathroom is all that's needed for one night. Breakfast was standard eggs, sausage, waffle maker and the coffee was damn good! Overall, if you need a place to spend the night, this is a good place to do it.

This is my second time staying, the first time I stayed was at a time when the rooms were extremely used and in bad shape. I have since returned. And the rooms are better than they were. Now one thing about this hotel, is the service is so good. Jessie Moore took such great care of us, he made our stay feel so much more comfortable and helped us with any thing we needed. You also do get a hot breakfast in the morning which is nice. This hotel did make us feel comfortable, in a time of need that my family and I needed. All the staff I met were friendly and welcoming. I did have neighbors that were getting it on all night and day, and they made it very well known what they were doing. Other than that my stay was great and I will definitely return. Also, beds were clean and sheets were clean. Towels also, were clean.

This hotel stay was the worst I’ve ever had!! I was in room 121 which was a king suite with a whirlpool tub. The ceiling had a mold or mildew type of situation going on, mildew on the windowsills and curtains. There was mold behind the carpeted baseboards. I notified the customer service center and they gave me a case number and said that Jesse Moore who is the manager should be contacting me to rectify the situation. I was told when I attempted to get a refund that I couldn’t be it was a non refundable stay, but when your health is in immediate danger, I feel that should be treated as a public health issue. I will be emailing the Boydton location for the VA Department of Health and Choice Hotel about getting a refund and possible future stay at another property because this is unacceptable!! Other issues included a guest that stayed above had a dog that was barking uncontrollably, alerted the front desk and no resolution. I couldn’t wait to check out!!

Very happy with our room and our stay. Room was clean as well as the rest of the property. Dog friendly with LOTS of open grassy areas to walk the them. Breakfast was big and plentiful.

After a 6+ hour drive the wife and I checked into this hotel, we didn't stay long, maybe about an hour. Luckily we found another hotel across the street(Microtel) thankfully they had rooms. This is the WORST hotel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in hundreds of hotels.The entry door to the room looked like it had been pried open many times. The AC was off, the room smelled musky and moldy. The refrigerator was hot. The bathroom grab rail was loose, with the mounting screws hanging out, the soap dish was corroded, and rusty, the faucet was dirty with soap scum. The tub stopper was coated with soap scum and did not work. The ceiling color was white, with a black color to it, which I suspect to be mold. The mirror frame had chemical streaks on it, and the wall where the bathroom trash can is had dark colored liquid streaks on it. The ice machine on the floor did not work, when I went to the front desk clerk and asked about the ice machine, she said that it hadn't been working for awhile. Do not stay at this hotel, stay somewhere else. BTW I took pictures to back up my review

We normally stop here on our trip heading north since it about half way. We have pets and they have a good pet policy and a good area behind the hotel for walking them. This is a popular stop for workers and such, so the parking will fill up fast. The rooms are pretty clean, but starting to show some age, but are a very good size if you have a few people. Would recommend to anyone and will stay there again.

Positive: Location was great. Negative: There was a long wait for my room to be ready. It was nearly around 5pm and that just should not have happened. It was a communication problem with staff as well. I was tired from previous travel and had to wait in the lobby with luggage.
