Columbine Bed & Breakfast - Featured Reviews (15)
I have had the pleasure of hosting several visitors to Louisville and always recommend the Columbine. People always comment on how comfortable the place is, how well they sleep, and how friendly the host is. Very highly recommended for people who like being close to downtown but want a more relaxed experience.
My sister and I recently stayed at the columbine for a weekend to visit the Jane Austen Festival in Louisville and it was delightful! The house itself is gorgeous, especially the sweeping staircase and stained glass window, and the hosts are wonderful! It is right in historic Louisville and close to plenty of fun things to do. We enjoyed staying in the Arts and Crafts room which was spacious, immaculately clean, elegant and comfortable. Rich cooked us some terrific breakfasts to fortify us for a busy festival day and was so welcoming! We hope to be back with more time to explore the back garden this time and play that gorgeous piano again!
We traveled to Louisville to attend the Bourbon & Beyond music festival. Despite the horrendous rain, we were really glad we chose to stay at the Columbine. The inn was filled with music lovers and the accommodations were perfect. The inn is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable. Rich was an wonderful host and provided us with delicious breakfasts. He provided us great restaurant suggestions and helped us get around Louisville. We hope to return this September for the festival. Fingers crossed that it does not rain.
My friend and I were in Louisville for a wedding. The groom arranged our stay at The Columbine, and we couldn't have been happier. The house is beautiful, the breakfasts were great and the location was very convenient. The Columbine is on a street with other gracious looking houses, and the walking was lovely in that area.||||Proprietor Bob is very nice, but our main interaction was with the other proprietor, Rich. He is an amazing source for stories on the history of Louisville and the surrounding area, and we found him smart, entertaining and funny. Really, he made our stay memorable and more enjoyable than we expected. This is the difference between other accommodations (hotels, air b & bs, etc.): it's a true Bed and Breakfast, and delightful! The other guests seemed very pleased with their stays, and I can honestly say I'm looking forward to returning to Louisville and staying at The Columbine again!
We recently returned from a long weekend in Louisville. We stayed in the historic district downtown at the Columbine. This was our fist experience staying in the city, and it was completely worth it. Our hosts were so gracious, charming, and excellent conversationalists. We have stayed at many BnB's, and quite a few are self-service where we have never seen our hosts. Not the case here.||||The Columbine is ideally located for tourism, whether you are enjoying the Victorian houses, attending the St. James art show, or exploring the neighborhood pubs. The parking was secure and conveniently located.||||Our suite was comfortable and quiet. We slept well with the air conditioning unit and the optional "white noise" generator. The shower and bath were spacious. The breakfast was planned based on our preferred times, and it was served right on time Conversations were lively and included recommendations for dining or shopping. ||||The Columbine is tastefully decorated, and there are plenty of places for relaxing, reading, or sipping a glass of wine. We spent time on both the back porch and the second floor deck, and they were quiet and comfortable. ||||I look forward to returning in the future for the Derby or another St. James art show and catching up with the guys on their travels and collections.
I've stayed at the Columbine twice now for a conference at University of Louisville, and both times I was SO impressed. The place is gorgeous inside - beautiful original detailing throughout, and the owners have really added a fun, kitschy vibe - everywhere you look there's a new artifact to discover! The hosts are incredibly friendly and quick to offer suggestions about activities to do and restaurants to visit. ||||The rooms are a great size and each one has its own charm. Both times we stayed in the Garden Room, which has two large windows and a view of the back garden (featuring flowers that weren't blooming in February, but I'm sure they're gorgeous in summer). ||||The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I think I slept better there than I did at home! While there is some noise that filters in - it is an old house, after all - the walls really aren't as thin as I feared. I've stayed in 4-star hotels that were MUCH louder. ||||The bathrooms are across the hall, but that isn't a problem, especially with the large fluffy robes provided.I believe the Garden Room is also the only room with a bathroom that has natural light.||||Breakfast is served on the weekends at your preferred time, and it's always fabulous. During the week, there's serve-yourself breakfast with cereal, fruit, juice, a Keurig, pastries, etc. ||||I hope to keep coming back to the Louisville Conference and staying at the Columbine! The only way I would EVER stay somewhere else while in town is if all the rooms were booked. It's a true gem.
The Columbine B&B is a fantastic place to stay and friendly hosts make the guests feel at home in this wonderfully restored Victorian within the arts community of Louisville. The building and ammenities are visually stunning! Wheather visiting the Kentucky Derby, one of the local Louisville colleges or concerts ( within close proximity to all these), The Columbine adds comfort and a pleasant experience to anyone's travelling and vacation itinerary. We will definitely return to the comfort of The Columbine.
I recently stayed here, alas only one night, when visiting the University for business. I don't think any images online do it justice--it is an absolutely beautiful home/mansion, with impeccable rooms and grounds. The amazing thing is it feels comfortable too and I slept very well. It is a tourist attraction itself and is a great place to stay in Louisville. Other than the place the owners are lovely people who go a long way to make sure people are comfortable. If you need anything you ask, and they try to accommodate. Will stay again--such a nice place!!
Allen warmly greeted us at the door, immediately creating a welcoming atmosphere. The mansion itself is stunning, and every aspect of our stay was carefully considered. Each space is not only inviting but also well-appointed and spotless. We chose th
Beautiful home on an amazing street filled with historic houses, close to amazing places to eat dinner. The rooms are gigantic and full of character. If you need a place to stay in Louisville look no further than DuPont!
A family obligation brought my partner and me to Louisville during the snowiest part of January, but because we had the great fortune to stay at Tucker House, what might have been an ordeal turned out to be a wonderful, magical experience that neithe

We stumbled in here after grabbing food around the corner. We had a great experience. The bartenders were knowledgeable. As a bonus, they were having happy hour all day because it was Sunday. I think our old fashioned were $6 each. They were wonderfu

What an incredible experience! When I booked this place I was really nervous because it seemed too good to be true and I was so relieved to arrive and see that it was actually even better than the photos made it seem. My 40 friends and I took over th
