Super park and museum! It was awesome to be able to climb on to and into the Challenger and diesel locomotives on display here. The staff was excellent and knowledgeable giving us a background of the museum and area.
My 10 year old and friend enjoyed roll playing around the locomotives. The up close view of the locomotives are a new experience for me and made for great opportunities for pictures.
I highly recommend visiting this free park. Parking was easy and there were only a few patrons during Rail Days at North Platte.
Fantastic place with some interesting railroad memorabilia. Take a self guided tour through old train cars and inside the old depot.
Totally awesome. Steam train engine. Free to visit. Mail cars caboose and others. Maintained as a city park.
A nice large park. I took a star away because they had the fences around the train so you couldn't get too close. If you live in the area, this is probably a great place to come visit and a nice venue for events
This is a cool little museum. I say little only because their are just 2 Locomotives and a few rail cars. But with that being said ..DONT miss this museum. The steam locomotive is AWESOME and the depot has a lot of neat things to see. Great staff as well. Located in the back of a city park which is also worth seeing.
A huge park with camping, river access, a few carnival rides, Buffalo and elk wildlife exhibits, and of course the amazing trains. The station master was very friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing experience to sit up in the trains and tour the old cars.
We stopped by here on our cross country trip and it was a fantastic little park. Unfortunately the railroad museum was not opened so we were not able to see the challenger series steam locomotive but the rest of the park and especially the playground was really really great for the kids. It looks like this park is massive with all kinds of things to do and must be a hub for the community. The fall colors were amazing!
Very nice part of the park. Well kept and clean. The owner was knowledgeable and nice. A must stop if you or your kids like trains! Also there is a nice playground right next to it if your kids need some more run around time.

I only have one suggestion, that they put a gravel or concrete walk way from the road to the picnic area by the play ground. Other than that the park perfect! There are many spots for family pictures. There are docks for those that enjoy sitting
The ice cream here is always great and the slice of pie was HUGE. I asked for just a small scoop of ice cream so that's why the ratio of pie to ice cre is off in the pic. The service is always wonderful when we are and they don't mind you asking lots
We love this spot. We pass through NE on I-80 via car a couple times per year, and always try to time our stop so we can visit Peg Leg (there are a few hotels right across the street, convenient place to stop for the evening.)
The beer is great and
