Wow! What an unexpected but great afternoon. My husband and I took our 5 year old. The volunteers working allowed us to look around at our leisure but also shared interesting information and set up a panning for gold experience!
My sons and I decided to stop and check this museum out. We love and prefer historical places. It was almost noon and in the 100's, temperature wise. We pulled up and two lovely ladies walked out to greet us with huge smiles while adorned with water soaked handkerchiefs draped around their necks. We were shown around and told about the QR codes throughout that you can scan for information throughout the barn. There are tons of local artifacts that have been donated from folks locally and also items unearthed there on site. The Adobe house was pretty awesome. This museum is a hidden gem. The ladies working there volunteer and I would like to thank them again for braving the heat so that people revisit the past and learn about/from history. The volunteers make it happen, and we appreciate you!!!
Great visit❣ We had a wonderful opportunity to see just about everything, very cool. Great historic resource. Only open Monday in winter and I don't think every Monday at that. Hopefully open more days in summer. Very much worth a visit. Loved the Native American displays and the settlers exhibits too.
Amazing historical place self guided look around and ask questions. This was my second time visiting. Would highly recommend stopping by I think it's only open on weekends. Great place to spend time looking at the history of the area!
The Coarsegold Museum is closed for the winter season. There are plans to open in the Spring. I visited to conduct some business with the on-site store. Located just south of the entrance to the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino, the Coarsegold Museum preserves and commemorates local Native and historic people, places, and things for this part of the Sierra Nevada foothill region. On your next visit to this area, be sure to stop by the Museum and help preserve local history. There are many stories, displays, and photographs I'm sure you can appreciate.
This little out of the way museum is definitely worth a stop. Lots of interesting tools, artifacts, photos, etc. Docents were knowledgeable. We learned a lot. So glad that the Historical Society is preserving this information.
The people are real nice. Ive been setting up a canopy there for some years now and i enjoy doing it for them. Theres a lot of good information about the history of highway 41 and everything on it.
Hidden gem, would love if they did more of a guided tour but it was also nice to do a self-guided one.
