This is a lovely place to hike. The trails have some steep spots, and a hiking pole would be useful. Eerily quiet as far as birds go, so disappointing in that respect. We parked at the south end and then did the loop north of that, and it was 4 miles.
We took a 3+ mile hike. Nice trails, nice rainforest-ish woods. Not very crowded. I recommend it. I *did* expect more about the history.
Limited parking at some of the trailheads. Recommend parking at the boys and girls club if possible. Trail is degrading and a little narrow in some portions. Also still had a lot of ice and snow is one portions of trail that made it difficult to traverse. Probably better in the summer.
We go there daily for the steps, trails, and quiet. Very calming and easy hikes.
It was surprisingly warm in Washington the weekend we came up. Sunny skies, beautiful green plants and buds getting ready to bloom. We were able to identify so many of them with Google lense. The paths were well maintained and signs up to keep you safe.
Fairly empty parking. Interesting fact cards along the trails describing the old coal mining operations. Nice waterfall and lots of little bridges. A few benches were rotten and unusable & a bridge crossing wasn't dog friendly with large sharp grates. It was otherwise well maintained. There are large mining shafts that go deep underground without barriers to keep dogs safe
Coal Creek is a good natural area with good trails to walk on near Coal Creek and a small waterfall.
So great. Good workout. Nobody says hi or bothers you...even when you try. Cool for dogs, clean but a bit slick. Go here ten to twenty-five times a month.

One of pur go to parks for evening walks or nice ol style picnic. Very well maintained park and feels safe with kids playing on their own. Of course, it's a natural area, always keep an eye on your kids.
I choose this nearby park since I have a 4-month-old baby Pomeranian puppy. The park is small but it is clean & has small trails for your fur baby to explore. My puppy loved it and even met a little 10-month-old pup. Wildwood Park provides potty bags
