Clyde's serves delicious, fresh, homestyle dishes at a very reasonable price. We had a wait, but the food was certainly worth the wait! When I saw turkey and dressing on the sign in front, my mind was made up! My husband had the country fried steak. Our friend loved the candied yams and I really enjoyed the broccoli casserole. You know when fried green tomatoes are offered as a side, the food is going to be spectacular! If you are in the area, give Clyde's a try!
My job takes me all sorts of places and I love local restaurants. The classic diner is a great appeal to me. The food here was solidly good and the service was great too. Definitely worth a stop if you happen to be in the area.
Since 1941. I know why. Good, wholesome, comfort food. 😋 Turkey and dressing on Sunday. Three sides... Hot rolls or cornbread. All seemingly home cooked. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again if I'm in the area. Oh, the turkey dinner, easily enough to share, was only $10.99! Service was great too. We could not do dessert but their specialty is homemade pies and they had cobblers and a big chocolate cake.
Went to Clyde's for the first time today and can't wait to go back! After living in Waynesville for quite some time, I always drove past Clyde's but have always wanted to go. Well, after going in for dinner, I was astounded. Service was really quick but beyond friendly. The food was so good, I got a greek salad with chicken and my partner got the beef tips that came with 3 sides (he chose mac and cheese, green beans, and fried okra). For the amount of food and quality, the prices made sense. German chocolate pie for dessert was amazing as well. I definitely recommend Clyde's and hope they open breakfast soon!
The food was great. We had Ashley as a waitress and she was amazing! We will be back the next time we are in town!
This is small hole in the wall restaurant. We were passing through going to Norfolk and decided to stop here. We were not disappointed. If you love steak, try the ribeye sandwich!! It's the best I've ever had. Everything else was great too.
Phenomenal all around experience. The selection of options is plentiful. They offer daily specials even on the weekend. I got the fried flounder and with all dinners they let you pick three different sides. I live up north so we are hardly given the option of fried green tomatoes or fried okra so those are the two that I picked along with the coleslaw. I believe all dinners also come with your choice of a roll or a piece of cornbread. My husband got the fried chicken and the pieces were huge. Everything fried was very lightly coated but crispy.
Historic Local Eatery... nostalgic feel, great service, large portions, great food... go try Clyde's... don't be too critical of this blast from the past... no one is perfect. Enjoy your meal, and the chance to dine where multiple generations have before you. By the way that special taste in the coleslaw is apple cider vinegar according to Clyde's.

What a nice place. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our hosts were so thoughtful. We've stayed in many more expensive places that didn't have the eye for detail or the desire for hospitality that these hosts showed. Want coffee in your room? Th

We are quite pleased that we worked with Strick at Bosu's Wine Shop for the wines at our son's wedding reception nearby. He helped us select tasty wines at a reasonable price, along with on-time delivery at the venue. Highly recommended.
I've always got an eye out for donuts and stopped here during a scenic drive. It's a no frills place with all the standard flavors. I got a strawberry donut and it was fresh, warm, and incredibly soft... and one of the best donuts I've ever had.
Spectacular production of "Death of a Salesman" Amazing interpretation of script by top flight talent. Beautiful building in a fine setting with hospitable front side of house staff.
